I like GG but Samaras was 10x the player and 100x as liked.

Theyre totally different types of player. Samaras was brilliant at times and his build would say he coulda been a battering ram like GG but he wasn't. He was a technical guy that chipped in with big goals.

We look back on Samaras.more fondly than when he was around. He had great moments but was a polarising player. Wasn't universally liked by a long shot

Remains a player we absolutely cannot afford to lose before summer IMO.

Again, if there’s an actual release clause then *. But if there’s not, he is absolutely vital to us. The thought of him leaving and kyogo picking up a hamstring injury at random is horrendous.

There’s a league and follow up riches that still is by no means a certainty - he is our option b, proven scorer, offers something completely different.

As I say, unless there’s a release clause his contract runs for years and the money on the table suggested simply isn’t close to being worth the risk.

Does he plummet in value between now and summer? Does he balls.

same goes for Juranovic on that note.

I wouldn’t consider selling either for 6 let alone 3 unless contractually obligated. Would be utter madness.

As for samaras comparison. Jesus. Samaras had a great first season after signing his deal, left me with great memories with a late winner against the sheep after that too.

To say he’s 10 times the player though is nuts.

And if GG is adamant he wants away this window?

(I'm not necessarily disagreeing btw, just wondering your solution to the problem I mention).

Id be saying look mate, summer - promise you, you can move. It’s less than 5 months, the window closes in 11 days, you are a hugely valued member of the squad and we need you.

Show him his value and importance, hope he’s enough of a pro to accept that promise and an existing contract.

He doesn’t strike me as a * - meet him half way.

EDIT - I’d also add that even if he’s * off in above example a guy in his late 20s isn’t going to do his future contract terms elsewhere any good acting the * anyway. He’s be best served taking what time he gets - and he will get time - to reinforce that he’s a guy any team can put their money on to trouble defences and score goals.

I can't really argue with your points, but Ange seems to not be willing to give him starts. If not on Kyogo's expense, then on the expense of a midfielder. And Giakoumakis probably is very unhappy with this. In the 11 days of this window, GG must start a game if I'm to be convinced there is a chance he is staying.

This I 100% agree with. It is the most obvious thing in the world. But if Ange has said something like this to him and he's still not buying it, what to do then?

Or even worse, if Ange hasn't even felt compelled to intervene then does that say there are deeper problems there?

It's truly a head * this whole situation tbh. * me off.

me too - far more than jj.

Ange has pointedly said guaranteed game time doesn’t exist - it’s clear (to me) where that was directed.

I was a bit annoyed about his follow up comment saying if not happy find another club.

gg then turns around and says “I have”

with gg I sometimes think he needs more carrot than stick approach - start him tomorrow, hopefully grabs a goal or 2, arm round shoulder
