Very pleasing to hear Ange and Johnson speaking about the Anti Celtic VAR bias, and by implication in the SFA and referees. Needs the Celtic Board to come out now and back it with an official statement.

We should go to war on the Goldson and Sakala scandals.

Make referees and linesmen declare any affiiliation with Secret Societies, and demand VAR is run by independent officials from outside Scotland.

How can asking for consistency cause such a meltdown?

SFA defo will be looking at suspending someone now.

Let them try...all it will do is highlight the volume of horrendous calls made in our game, as well as what Ange also said about it happening for other clubs.

    I love Ange.

It's good hes mentioned other teams suffering from ridiculous decisions as well, which is the case.

Only one team benefits from never being penalised and VAR is highlighting that for all to see. They've had at least 4 blatantly wrong decisions going there way at crucial times in games. The worst being goldson setting up the winner at Aberdeen with his arm.

I hope other managers at other clubs, have the Cojones to call out the cheating. It needs dealt with pronto. We need the game to be honest and on the level, not skewed to help the new club achieve better results than they deserve.

Goldsons save was more like a volleyball block than anything football related.

    Bang on the money.

People are upset because we've asked for consistency.

I agree with every single word Ange has said.

It's not a perception' - Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou takes aim at VAR and slams Ibrox missile-throwers after Rangers derby
There is always plenty to digest in wake of an Old Firm derby and that was particularly the case for Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou this week after the 2-2 draw at Ibrox on Monday.

While the 57-year-old has been assessing his own team's performance, which he accepts was below par, he has also been poring over two incidents that caused him a great deal of anger and frustration. Much of his ire was directed at VAR, with Postecoglou adamant his side should have been awarded a penalty for handball against Rangers defender Connor Goldson and that referee John Beaton should have been called to the monitor for a second look. He has also expressed dismay at a missile-throwing incident after Celtic left-back Greg Taylor and the physio treating him were targeted by a metal object, believed to be a bottle opener, thrown from the crowd.

The Greek-Australian was not prepared to let either episode lie as he used his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's visit of Kilmarnock to point out that his side have been consistently on the wrong end of VAR decisions. “I don’t think it’s perception, I think that’s the reality," Postecoglou said. "We have had a rough run of it. You’d be hard-pressed to find me being too critical of any refereeing decision during my whole 25 years coaching. I’ve always felt that with human beings involved, errors will happen and things will even out over the course of the year. But if you look from the introduction of VAR, we’ve had some, I think, pretty rough decisions against us, and that’s not going to even itself out over one year: no chance are we going to get three [questionable] penalties in our favour.

I think we have had some bad decisions in a short space of time. The biggest problem for me and my players at the moment is just confusion. You’ve got players who are trying to defend in the box not knowing what they can and can’t do. It seems to change on a weekly basis. I saw people doing mental gymnastics all week trying to figure out why it wasn’t a penalty. Maybe that’s because it was a penalty and there’s nothing to figure out. That's where it’s frustrating for supporters, not just of our club. That could be a decision that sends a club down, relegates them. If someone watching our game can clearly define to me with the decisions we’ve had so far what is a handball, without trying to justify decisions, I’d be very surprised. I think it’s a bit of a mess at the moment.”

Postecoglou also blasted the Ibrox missile-thrower, with a similar incident in the Edinburgh derby at Tynecastle resulting in Hearts goalkeeper Zander Clark requiring treatment to a head wound after being struck by a coin. "It's not something you want to see,” he continued. “We saw it in another Premiership game at the weekend and it’s just nonsense. People should know better these days. There are players out there putting their bodies on the line as it is; you don’t need that kind of stuff coming in over the fence. When you know that 99 per cent of the people in that stadium are doing the right thing, it’s sad that a couple seem to think that something like that would have an effect. Players are out there giving their all for their teams. Irrespective of which side you support, you should be able to support without doing stupid things like that.”

Tomoki Iwata's Celtic role explained, no bids for duo and why Alexandro Bernabei was overlooked at Ibrox
New Celtic signing Tomoki Iwata is set to be paraded at Parkhead after landing in Glasgow on Friday night
The 25-year-old arrival from Yokohama F Marinos is expected to be in attendance for the match against Kilmarnock on Saturday after joining on an initial loan deal ahead of a permanent move in the summer.

Iwata worked with Ange Postecoglou at his previous club, and the Celtic manager is backing his latest Japanese recruit to hit the ground running.

He’ll need a bit of work but knowing the player and the person well, he will be working really hard to be ready as quickly as possible," he said. “The first thing is getting him in and settled and I’m sure before long he’ll be contributing. He’s a really intelligent footballer. He takes in information really well and is very disciplined."

Iwata is capable of playing in a variety of positions across midfield and defence and Postecoglou is open minded over the role he could play at Celtic after deploying him in midfield during his time in charge of Yokohama. "The way we were playing at the time, with that double six, I felt he could be a really good player," he said. “In Japan, a lot of teams tend to play on the counter-attack so I thought he could be a really good extra layer of defensive security for us. But he’s also very good on the ball technically and a very powerful runner. I knew that he could play two or three positions. Full-back, centre-back and as a six. If you look at his record at Yokohama even after I left, he’s done all those roles really well.”

While fellow January recruit Alistair Johnston was handed his debut in the 2-2 draw with Rangers at Ibrox on Monday, Celtic's other new signing Yuki Kobayashi may have to wait for his chance following his arrival from Vissel Kobe. “We’ll see. It’s about opportunity," Postecoglou said. "He’s been training with us now for two or three weeks and joined us in Portugal. He’s a little bit different to Ali in that Ali played at the World Cup. Yuki hasn’t had a competitive game for quite a while so it’s just about introducing him at the right time.”

With first-choice left-back Greg Taylor ruled out for at least two weeks with a hamstring strain, Postecoglou confirmed summer signing Alexandro Bernabei will start against Killie, despite bringing on right-back Josip Juranovic ahead of him when Taylor was forced off at Ibrox. "I’m really happy with Bernabei," he stressed. "The only reason I didn’t bring him on the other day is that I had an international defender just back from the World Cup to put on ahead of him. We’re really happy with his progress. We knew it would be a long-term project with him being so young and not having a lot of experience, but he’s come on leaps and bounds. He’ll get an opportunity on Saturday and I’ve no doubt he will do well. He’s a great young player and one I’ve got high hopes for. There are no issues there.”

Despite speculation, Posteocglou also confirmed there have been no concrete offers for Giorgos Giakoumakis and Juranovic, adding: “At this point, we’ve had nothing serious about any of the players within the group."

Yes it was good Ange mentioned other teams suffering as well, smart move on his part.
As for Goldson, he is a serial unpunished hand ball offender. I can think of at least three hand balls he has been involved
in this year and he has got off scot free.
He's been at it for years and gets away with it every time.

I would not be surprised at all tbh. A token one, for the "nothing to see here" stance. Then normal service resumes after that.

It’s true remember covid season the stats were rediculous and once rangers had mathematically won the league red card against came the next game

To be quite frank, there is no 'would have' about it. One of the key things lost in the sea of misinformation is that only two weeks prior Beaton had the exact same decision in the Livi v Aberdeen game.

    Screenshot_20230107_094941.jpg

Beyond getting the correct decision, when the Livi penalty was given the media never batted an eyelid, total agreement that it was a penalty, let's move on. Yet for us it's a conspiracy theory, it's sour grapes, it's 'have you actually looked at this ammended rule that I'm going to butcher the interpretation of just to suit the narrative', it's 'you already get lots of penalties', it's 'what about that one incident down south across 28 games, that's the same as multiple incidents every game', it's 'well we know the refs are rubbish but what can you do, they are rubbish for everyone' and all the other farcical accusations.

It's beyond a disgrace and an embarrassment that we have to fight tooth and nail against the referees, the SFA and the media and any other fans that want to come along for the ride just to get one single injustice of the many that happen on a weekly basis on the record never mind dealt with.
