Ange's cough is a tick. In more relaxed long form interviews he doesn't do it

The thing is, if they held onto that team, they'd have an unsettled squad due to players being denied moves to England or Spain. Their top youth prospects would see this and be more likely to sign pro contracts abroad if they felt Ajax would actively block a move to Barcelona if it materialized etc

The lack of money from player trading would probably also mean they couldn't compete with wages these players would want to stay in Netherlands longer

Just to note, we have seen Ajax pull away from us financially in last 3 or ,4 years , our wage bills were actually about the same in 2019

Did anyone ask about his contract situation at the AGM?

Important we get him tied down on a longer contract.

Some on this thread have commented on Ange and how he seems so calm on the touchline, where as we would be expecting him to be seething when things are not going our way. Others have commented that he does not show enough passion when on the touchline.

Well I beg to differ. If Notorious can help us here, he may be able to post us a clip of Ange at his 'best'.

It is when he was coaching Yokohama Marinos in Japan before moving to Celtic. It involves I believe, him having a 'discussion' with a linesman with whom he was not happy with.

I hope you can find it Notorious.

Union Berlin now lost 2 from 3, while it would be great for someone else to win that league, Bayern are going to run away with it.

Can't believe folk are actually suggesting, wanting, defensive anti football to be played at Celtic park.

    * off with that *.

If you've watched Celtic over the last 19 years and specifically this season, and you still want defensive football before giving Ange and this beautiful attacking football a proper chance, then * me you must lead one helluva boring * life.

Creating chances and taking the game to Real * Madrid, twice!

Yes the result was poor, but the performances where the best we've ever seen in 19 * years.

If your instinct is to revert back to a Lennon type performance on the hope of a one off Barcelona/Tony Watt style result, over advocating for 2 or 3 additions to this current squad, * me man. * me indeed.

Be careful what you say, lest people mistake your concern for an unusual obsession with Ange's ill health.

No, that's not the one I am referring to. It's a night game I think, and the camera man is close to the touch line near Ange.
It may be taken from a mobile phone. His team is attacking right to left. You do not see who he is directing his anger to on the touch-line but Ange goes off ! I assume it is the linesman and involves his Y.Marinos left winger. He keeps on saying 'Yeah, you saw that, you saw that, don't give me that, you know exactly what I am talking about, you know....' etc.
It's great viewing and goes on for about 20 secs.

In hindsight, benching two players who scored hat tricks against the opposition in the previous match (and who subsequently scored the winners when coming on from said bench) probably wasn't the smartest move on Saturday.

Bend over, and get ready, sir.:84:

In all seriousness, the performance from the first 50 minutes of the RM home game was never repeated, against any other team. We surprised them once, that was it. We got sussed out quickly.

2-3 signings won’t cut it for Angeball. 5 are needed, all of a Jota/CCV standard. *, midfielders need to be omnipotent, given that Ange doesn’t like to play a pure defensive specialist MF. Defensive tactics can be played with the players we have now, although a better GK and CB would help.

The best European performance in the last 19 years in terms of both play and result was the double header vs. Lazio. Granted, that was Europa League.

Never repeated? Mate we played each of the other three teams off the park at times.
Disappointingly it never got us the results and we all agree more signings of a higher calibre/finished article are required.

But I do hope you're not actually trying to say we only had a good 50 minutes in that whole campaign.

We never looked as good as the 50 minute spell home vs. RM, against Leipzig. At least not for longer periods of time.
Against Shakhtar away we were given the ball and failed to overwhelm them. Home, we had the right setup to start with (* possession- get men into the box), but changed it and * ourselves.

Common sense should be a manager’s best friend, not footballing idealism and aesthetics. Lennon and Strachan had common sense not to go gung-ho against big teams.

GVB took a defensive approach in the Champions League and look how that turned out :giggle1:

We had one havy beating from the best team in the world. First and foremost, we need to take our chances and be ruthless. If we done that we would be at least in third spot and that's all I ask in the CL.

At most, I'd like us to be a bit more compact in midfield. But no * * our pants before the game even started.
