He's been excellent for us so far this season and continually works his socks off for the team. I have to admit that I wasn't keen on him at first but, like many other of us, have been proven wrong and I'm happy to share my slice of the humble pie that's going around.

Mostly agree with that apart from 'quietly playing within himself'

Last year for me was more 'if this * runs 30 yards and turns back and plays it to Calmac one more time I'm going to explode :giggle1:

Some progress, he used to be neat and tidy and a safe type of player in possession but you always thought didn't have the extra quality in his delivery or yard of pace or athleticism to beat a man - still hasn't really but he's got much better in terms of his movement and passing and runs he makes off the ball that he's becoming real quality.

Turned into a good playmaking left-back who is conducting play sometimes all over the park and has real confidence on the ball and is calm under pressure.

I meant more of his passing ability, he was playing it safe and doing the job for the team. This year he’s playing more bold

Sometimes when I see Taylor's range of passing and defensive work rate I wonder how he would do in the CalMac deeplying playmaker role or in a more advanced leftsided midfield role like Hatate. Wouldn't mind if Ange switched things up now and again against cannon fodder to accommodate for Bernabei and Taylor in the same lineup.

He's always been a decent, hard working player with a good attitude. He's now added a lot to his game under Ange, and is one of the, if not the most consistent players in the team.

I agree with this which then means I agree with @Tony Ralston

Those forward passes were probably always there and Ange, through coaching and allowing Taylo
I have left my previous quote the way it was before I got distracted. That was before your post.

I actually do agree he must have been playing within himself, or at least instructed to play the way he used to.

Sometimes I also wonder how McGregor would do in the Greg Taylor role:56::56:

Did Rodgers not play him at LB one time and we all (rightly) went tonto? Or is that what you are getting at?

Aye against Rangers, funny thing was he was by far our best player that day and got a goal ruled out for being just offside. Problem was we didn’t have another Callum McGregor in the middle, think Lennon done the same as well.

He’d be excellent at the inside left back role though :56:

He’d suit Ange’s system a lot better than he did with Rodgers or Lennon, although he was excellent in that hun game. The game Lennon tried it was a farce though.

In a strange sort of way Taylor is quite similar to McGregor just not as good.

Aye you mistake them for each other quite a lot, Taylors goal against the Huns I was sure it was Taylor passing to McGregor to score not the other way around :56:

Trust McGregor at LB before that clown anyway :56: farcical all round

Would be interested in seeing him in the holding midfield role and push O’Riley up one again, even though O’Riley has been decent in there since McGregor got injured

I actually think this could work. Obviously wouldn't be first choice but I think he could fill in there better than O'Riley.

One thing that bothers me about O'Riley in there (and that's not just him, but any other 6 we've tried except for McGregor), is that he rarely shows for the ball. We need our 6 to be constantly on the move, looking for angles so the CBs can pass to him. McGregor is non stop in there and it's so important to us building our play. I think Taylor would be similar because you see him doing that from LB. He's really brave and always looking for the ball.

I have to say, I'm impressed by wee Taylor. Making himself from the guy deemed not good enough for our starting eleven to being dreamed of as a McGregor alternative in such a short time :giggle1:

Steve Clarke actually played Taylor as DM a handfull of times for Killie, so he's not unfamiliar with the role.
