What’s more annoying is that there are 6 RB players to 6 of our players in that shot.
That means we had 4v4 in their half.
Knock the ball long and wide into space for Maeda or Jota to run on to, and suddenly we have them dragged apart and their CBs isolated.

As much as I love the system we play, we definitely need to be able to see when the chance is on to mix it up and catch the opposition off guard, especially in Europe.

    Completely agree.

The huns are masters at it. We need to be better at it as it's part of the game whether we (or Ange) like it or not.

Before the mistake Hart passed it out to the left and it came back to him, he then passed it out right and it came back to him, so he then decided to take responsibilty and try to do sothing with the ball, something that the outfield players didn't do.
It didn't come off but Hart is not solely to blame IMO.

Crazy mistake but he is a very good keeper and have been fantastic for us since signing.

He was great last season but he has definitely not been at it so far this season.

It was a shocking error, and ultimately changed the entire game.
With no other player within 15 yards, if the only player you can pick out is the opposition attacker, then you have problems.
No matter what way the manager tells you to play, hoof the ball up the park if there's no safe option. His comments were a total cop out.

He's not alone in that...not many of the players have been at it this season.

The pass back to him from Welsh (I think) was ridiculous.

He had Jenz in space on the left edge of the box where if he went there first Jenz could have found Taylor or if that was cut of he could have went back to Hart or would have had the option to switch it over to the right.

I agree on his comments, I don’t know why he had to add about it being the way the manager wants us to play. He could have left it as I made the mistake hands up.

Be interesting to see if Ange picks up on that.

    Did he say that?
What I got from the interview, is thatbwhen you play out from the back mistakes can happen, but he fully supports that style of play.

I think he'll regain his form and cement first choice for this season at least, but I'm now in the boat that we need another keeper for next year.

It's sad, he was excellent last season and I honestly thought we were sorted at GK for the next few years.

I believe, had our manager been Neil Lennon, Steve Clarke, (insert any old-fashioned/pragmatic manager), that Hart just boots it up the field on that occasion. Forster rarely got caught out like this. We knew his footwork was poor, but so did Lennon, and didn't force buildup from the back.

I will concede that Hart should have enough influence and experience to be sensible. But Ange does dictate the playing style, and it is incompatible with Hart's (lack of) skills.

How do you play fitba every day of your life but still can’t play a pass. Cmon to * big man.

Was worried about him before the game tbh, he’s been * lately. Avoidable goals vs Shakhtar, St Mirren and Motherwell, then that last night was the worst of the lot.

Great guy and character to have around the place but hopefully we’re eyeing up a ball playing keeper for next year.

I have a problem with Managers who want to play out from the back but don't have a keeper who is good with their feet. Either change the keeper or change the system !!
Joe Hart is obviously quite * with the ball at his feet & Ange is rolling the dice asking asking him to pass the ball out.
I see keepers giving the ball away every week & being the last man back it usually goes bad !!

Ask Forster, Wanyama, Duffy etc. the same question. In our current team- Maeda can't pass well, either. Yet, he's a paid footballer. It's a thing- some players get to play because they can do some things, even if they can't pass.

Was massively * off with Hart last night cos he basically sold the jerseys but tbf to him he's no really made that many mistakes playing out from the back. He's looked uncomfortable at times and maybe the wrong choice of pass on occasion to put us under pressure but generally he's been fine.

The guys saying Ange wants to play this way, yes he wants to play out from the back but I don’t think it’s in his plan to make poor choices of pass with pathetic effort. Definitely not his plan too pass it out to the opposition.
    Harts F up all day.

That's what he did say, but of course some media outlets went with headlines like, "Joe Hart blames mistake on Postecoglou's style of play".

Hart was correct saying that due to the way we pass out, we often play through the press or lines and create chances as a result, so there is a demonstrable benefit to it. Plus the amount of goals we've conceded as a result of playing out through Hart and under Ange has been relatively miniscule.

Of course that doesn't make that particular goal we conceded last night any better, but I disagree that he just had to pump it forward in that instance. By all means, clear it if you're under pressure, but if you watch the goal back, he had the option of a relatively unmarked Jenz to his left. Jenz then would have been closed down, but could have passed forward to Taylor, which would have broken the first line of their press.

But that was the lack of bravery Ange referenced post-match, because whenever Hart was making those passes to Jenz and Welsh, the ball was coming straight back to him, rather than going forward. So like somebody else pointed out, he took it on himself to try and pass through the lines and got it all wrong. A mistake to be sure, but one precipitated by others not doing their jobs within the system.
