From what I've seen, the injuries are starting to cause a bit of discomfort, not going to blame the defence for yesterday as the midfield and strikers are partly to blame aswell , obv not our strongest starting 11 but as long as we're still pulling out the results

The narrative about this game is odd.

Heard a lot about us being unconvincing.

We missed two or three chances that were harder to miss than score.

We should've been awarded a penalty and they should've been down to ten men with a good chunk left to play.

We were nervy at 2-1 but it would have been really unfair for Motherwell to get an equaliser imo. They did very little. We even scored for them.

A nervous display, but we really should've scored another two or three minimum. Unconvincing? We deserved the three points.

We deserved the 3 points but Motherwell had other chances too, not great but not beyond the possibility of them equalising as seen by McGregor having to take the red and the anxiety in the crowd when 5 mins extra time was played. Other than Kyogos missed header the chances where long range efforts. One of which did go in.

We don't look as attacking anymore which might be another reason people are less enthusiastic about yesterday.

We hit the bar twice and both Kyogo and Abada missed really good chances. It's two games, against St Mirren where I think the manager put out the wrong side, and yesterday, perhaps an international hangover.

We have to expect blips in form, it's how we get out of it that counts and winning yesterday was crucial.

The nervousness from the crowd was bad though and certainly won't have helped. When we get behind the team we are fantastic, but when we act like we did yesterday it causes its own problem and can go through the side.

It's definitely because we weren't as easy on the eye.

Jota missed a sitter that Maeda pulled back in the first half. McGregor missed a sitter when Jota's pass went through everyone to the back post in the first half. Kyogo missed two sitters from headers. One from Hatate's rebound off the post in the first half and then one in the second half where it came off his shoulder. Juranovic hit the crossbar as well in the first half. Abada missed a sitter after a rebound from Mooy's save after McGregor was sent off. We should've been awarded a penalty and them down to ten men with a big chunk of the game left.

That's six plus opportunities where we should've probably scored. Motherwell's only real chance was nullified when McGregor took one for the team.

They could've got an equaliser and we were nervy at times but I maintain that that would've been incredibly lucky on their part. A miscommunication at the back, us not taking our chances and the ref looking the other way for a penalty allowed Motherwell the opportunity to get something from that game.

    Stats below show that.

I missed the game so take anything I say here with a pinch of salt. But tbh that's the sort of summary of a game that I would describe as unconvincing.

Missing sitters, gifting a goal and almost gifting a second goal at the death which resulted in our captain being sent off.

I sort of get that argument people make when they say "well at least we created chances". Aye but it's pointless if we don't take them. That's now the Shakhtar, St Mirren and Motherwell game where we've been ridiculously wasteful in attack and conceded 4 goals from 6 shots on target (obviously one being an OG). Need to sort it out immediately.

    I agree.

Maybe it does depend on your definition of unconvincing. Mine would be winning the game with our only shot on target and awful football whilst giving the opposition a lot of the ball and gifts.

3 points is all that matters.

    You watched the highlights?

Aye. How Kyogo didn't get at least 3 I'll never know.

This echoes my feelings on the game. Were we great? No but I don’t think the performance was that different to say the game at home vs Aberdeen. We only lost a goal because of a total calamity between two of our players other than that Motherwell created nothing.

Our play was sloppy in spells but also for around 25 minutes from the 10th minute to the 35th we were pretty good and should have scored at least another couple of goals in that time.

I have seen a lot of comparisons to St Mirren where we created nothing and I really don’t agree with those comparisons.

On Saturday we scored two goals hit the wood work twice, had 5 big goal scoring chances beyond those two that hit the wood work and were denied a good shout at a pen.

On another day 2 or 3 of those 8 things go our way and our RB doesn’t chest it in his own net, we win 4-0. Actually apart from the Dundee Utd game and possibly the games against them and Kilmarnock we haven’t created as many clear cut chances to score as we did on Saturday.

If it had been like the St Mirren game and we had sneaked a two one and that had been our only two sights of goal then I would have been worried.

Wednesday will be a different level of challenge and I hope CCV is fit for it as we will be tested defensively but Saturday wasn’t nearly as bad as many are making out.

I do agree we need to start being more clinical but I think a team could be on the end of another big score shortly when it does click again.

The start to the season has been phenomenal.
We won´t be steamrolling teams for 38 games though.

On another day, we win 4-1.
It´s grinding out the result that counts,
especially when it´s not the best day at the office.

Could not agree more with this post. The whole narrative that the scoreline reflects what happened in this game just is not reality IMHO. Kyogo himself missed 2 sitters and a 1v1 with their keeper. Abada missed the sitter with the last kick. Hatate smashed one off the post, Juaranovic one off the bar and Jota missed a great chance from an early cut back and thats just off the top of my head.
Then we had Beaton's "honest mistakes" especially in not giving us the pk and sending off their center back midway through the second half.
For me the only issue was we were dreadful with our finishing otherwise I thought we played fairly well for large spells of the game.

Tbf looking back at that game, on another day we absolutely scud them by 5 or 6. It's actually mad how many sitters we missed. Two Kyogo sitters, Abada sitter, Calmac sitter then Reo and Jura hitting the woodwork...and also another great chance for Jura who should at least be testing the keeper but skied it...

Haksabanovic looked decent also. He's been creating good chances for himself but his shots need a bit more venom behind it.

common story for the last few seasons - we need to be more ruthless like we did at the start and end of last season.
I think at times playing 2 x strikers up top could suit - GG flick ons to kyogo but Ange isnt keen for that type of play.
I think tomorrow's night will be a rough enough ride - they will create lots of chances, if we get away with a draw it will be brilliant. How did shak turn them over (a shocking keeper error helped).

the amount of chances we blaze over the ball is shocking rather than even testing the keeper.
