Imagine if he could shoot or pass.

He's missed some sitters and fluffed some passes that would be assists.

He has got to balls where he has no right to getting though.

    Swings and roundabouts.

I would say he probably hasn’t scored as many as I thought he would, especially when he scored against Hibs right near the start of his debut.

However based on the footage and scouting of him, he has provided a lot more assists than I probably thought he would.

Would be a guaranteed starter for me tomorrow night, I know loads get frustrated by him but for me the volume of work he puts in and in the right areas is incredible. If he fails to trap one or misses a chance so *.

In both directions in Europe, particularly against the big sides and away from home he can be a difference maker.

    I'm with ya.

Was shouting after 20mins against Madrid to get him on.

I agree, I think he'd be more effective in Europe than Abada, and that's not a slight on Abada, just Maeda's style works better imo.

At the same time, I'd trust Abada to do some damage against Shaktar, so it's a tricky one. For Madrid/Leipzig I'd definitely go with Maeda

    "so *"??

Missed a sitter to put us ahead against the current European champions. Could have been a far different game but its OK bcoz he runs about a lot??

If he only ran about a lot you’d have a point but he doesn’t. He wasn’t the reason the current European champions beat us and you and I both know it.

Whilst Abada is developing his game (and he is) Maeda offers a lot more guile, stamina, work ethic, pressing and constant pressure and ultimately pace in the final third for now and for me is the better option. But it will be horses for courses.

Hope Maeda did some more work on his first touch and shooting with Kewell.

I'm not saying he was but the manager is of the opinion that if we had got 1st goal then it would of been a different game and we would be set up to hit them on the break as they came looking for equaliser. So. Who knows how it will have turned out if he didn't miss our best chance of the game.

You say that as if Abada doesn't offer us any of that. Yes maybe not at the level Maeda does but end of the day goals win games. Abada has 6 to Maedas 1 despite playing less minutes this season. He's a far greater threat.

So as you would say "so *" if abada doesn't press or run about to same intensity I'd rather have his goals

Tbh Abada has a great scoring record and I think Shaktar will sit back we will have plenty of the ball

I think with their main man being Mudryk, we may see Daizen play on the right

I'd go maeda on tonight's game. If this lot are dangerous on the counter then let maeda and kyogo cut off the start of their counter attacks. Not only could we pressurise a mistake but we could really strangle their plan A.

Abada had an equally-criminal miss against Madrid when he was virtually one-one-one with Courtois, which was literally the only thing he did in the match.

Maeda missed a howler after getting his feet mixed up.

Hazard, at £130m+, missed an even worse sitter than both those two combined.

It happens. Should maeda have scored? Aye.

    Should Abada have scored? Aye

Should Hazard have scored? Aye. The difference being he actually did later in the match.

So whoever gets the nod tonight between Maeda and Abada, well that’s the gaffer’s decision and hopefully either way one of them performs.

Personally would play Haksabanovic as he is best of the 3 but depends on fitness

The miss was disappointing, but he still got himself in that position against the European champions.

I think people are overly harsh on Maeda. He scored 8 in 21 predominately playing as a winger last season. That is not to be sniffed at, particularly when you add in him having already played a full season prior to that.
