It'll be annoying to lose him because its clear from 2 seasons ago how good a player he can actually be. People are right saying that if we lose Starfelt or CCV to injury then we will struggle. Especially going into the Champions League. You cant just have no decent back up players for your center half positions, its suicide going into the Champions League like that. If Jullien could screw the nut and fight for his place then he would certainly fill that void.

I dont think theres any way back for him though. The writings on the wall and he has to go. But we need to sign someone else

And? We clearly still need one more if Jullien goes.

Otherwise, what’s your alternative? If CCV and Starfelt both get injured, are you going to send Welsh and Jenz out to play two games per week for who knows how long? Who’s the main backup then? As promising as some of our young defenders are, the thought of Lawal or Murray coming off the bench in the CL doesn’t bear thinking about.

Equally, if CCV and Starfelt don't get injured, you then have 5 CBs, 3 (or more likely 2) of which are unlikely to ever play.

Ange showed last season that he favours a consistent CB pairing. We had 4 CBs on the books and one of them in Jullien played the grand total of about 15 minutes.

I agree that ideally we'd sign an upgrade on Starfelt longer-term, but given what we paid for him just a year ago (and the fact that, actually, he had a really good season overall) that seems highly unlikely. So hopefully Jenz proves to be a more than capable backup, because I doubt we're signing another.

Aye we did. That is correct. Fair point. Im just annoyed to be losing a player like Jullien when its clear how good he can be when he screws the nut. It may be like other folk have said though and now that his pals N'tcham and Edouard are away then he's threw a strop. Either way it looks like his time is definitely up. Im just annoyed cause he was brilliant in his first season. Those two games against Lazio showed what standard he can step up to

But what if Jenz, Welsh and the new CB also get injured!? 4’s plenty. With the likes of Danr Murray as the potential 5th if needed.

2 players for each position is pretty standard. 5 cbs seems a bit much. Ideally ud like to have someone in the squad that could cover there ie a Bitton or a scales but don't see us having 5 based on what ifs.

Hard to convince a player of quality to come in and be 3rd or 4th choice as Ccv n Starfelt will likely start most games when fit based on last season.

Imo we are stronger there than we were last season. Jenz being 3rd choice is an upgrade on Welsh being 3rd choice and we pretty much ran with 3 last season due to Jullien being injured/unfit/not fancied

Aye few months ago id have said the same, was wanting him back fit and in the team but hes looked poor in pre season and his attitude is questionable.

Whether it's bcoz Ange doesn't fancy him or injury has ruined him his time definitely looks done here. Had a cracking 1st season and will go done as a "what if" player

Bombed out Christopher Jullien could still be a Celtic player come September as the defender's future remains in limbo.

The £7milllion Frenchman has been deemed surplus to requirements by Ange Postecoglouafter failing to impress the Hoops boss since returning from a year long injury lay-off in February. Jullien has been told to find a new club, with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Stafelt, Stephen Welsh and Moritz Jenz all ahead of him in the pecking order.

As first reported by Football Scotland, the 29-year-old was on the verge of leaving Parkhead in June after flying out to Germany to hold talks with Schalke over a loan switch. But the move to the Bundesliga new boys broke down over personal terms and Jullien returned to Lennoxtown.

The former Toulouse stopper has been training with Postecoglou's first-team but hasn't been involved in any of the club's Premiership matches with Aberdeen or Ross County. Youngster Welsh started the league curtain-raiser against the Dons and scored the opening goal within five minutes

New signing Jenz was then given the nod at Dingwall on Saturday after Welsh was struck down by illness. And the German enjoyed a dream debut by netting a late goal to settle the nerves against Ross County and put the champions in front. Fit-again Sweden international Starfelt is also back in contention after recovering from an injury sustained on international duty.

Jullien is hopeful he'll still be able to find a new club before the transfer window closes on September 1. As things stand though, Football Scotland understands that no club has registered any serious interest, which means he could find himself frozen out until January at the earliest.

Jullien is in the final 12 months of his contract and Celts know they won't be able to recoup the mammoth outlay Neil Lennon spent to bring the central defender to Glasgow in 2019. The man who scored the 2019/20 Betfred Cup winner against Rangers could even depart on a free transfer, should he pen a pre-contract with another club in the New Year.

Everyone waiting until Jan to get him for free.

Top player at his peak. Injury didn't help and takes a good few games to get up to speed with everyone else..just too many things not working for him, shame.

He seems like a bit of a tadger at times lately but he's still a good player for someone. Unfortunate how it's turned out.

Would ultimately prefer to sell and replace, but if we can’t, it’s not the worst thing in the world, as long as he accepts it and knuckles down for one last year.

On his day, he’s still a good depth option. Lost a yard or two after the injury, or looks like it anyway. Apart from that, if he can screw the nut, I’m sure Ange could try to incorporate him as 5th choice. Few games a season when needed.

His distribution’s always been decent. I know we need pace for a high line, but he could still do it vs most teams in Scotland.

Jenz is his replacement. Just need to get him shifted now. Sad how it’s worked out but the injury appears to have * him.

Its strange how similar Jenz is to him, both in appearance and playing style. He actually even looks a bit like Jullien.
