I get the logic behind it, and it makes sense as the next evolution of the way Ange wants to play. But I wonder how effective it will actually be. Our centre backs can usually pass the ball to each other on a regular basis near the halfway line because most teams don't press us. He won't be needed to create a 3v1 in those games, and it runs the risk of losing the ball and being caught out. And in Europe it's just asking for trouble.

I hope goalkeeper is an area of the pitch we're looking at next summer. Hart is a very good shot stopper and his leadership qualities are priceless. But he's so uncomfortable with the ball at his feet under any sort of pressure, and he's painfully slow when he has to run after a misplaced pass or deflection etc.

Siegrist is a decent back up but he's another one who doesn't look very good on the ball.

I’d of liked a pre-season game against someone of champions league calibre to test where we’re at

Without claiming to fully understand it I suppose it's maybe a question of territory. Quite a few times last season we ran out of ideas passing it between our CBs and got pressured back to Hart who had to then play the ball across his goal-line. I'm guessing the idea is that we won't have to do that if we run out of ideas and can keep the ball higher up our half. Again, not sure if that's how Ange sees it, just a guess.

Theres sweeper keeper, and now theres defensive midfield keeper haha?. I do think this is the way Ange wants to play, I remember last pre-season Hart was similar. But because of the short time to put a winning team together, it was abandoned. If that is the way Ange wants to play, then Joe Hart isn't the answer Unfortunately

We are going to be embarrassed a few times this season if hart plays so high up the pitch. Goal keepers should be in there box at all times unless out fir taking free kicks it pens. Anges confidence could come back to bite him in the hole. Could you imagine losing a match against the Huns playing like this and them exploiting it and if it's tight this year in the league. I'm 42 years old and I don't think I've ever see a keeper play this high up the pitch and with that said, there's a reason why I haven't. It's self explanatory.

I think it's more about creating an extra outfield player so the midfield don't have to drop back to take the ball from the defence as often. We've seen that for a while if McGregor didn't drop deep to take the ball we were often struggling to play out. It should, in theory, leave one of our midfield or attackers open for a pass if the opposition are closing down the keeper and defenders. In practice though, well we'll need to wait and see on that one.

There's no need whatsoever for Joe to be playing so high at times.
Moreso, the fact he's not comfortable in possession of the ball at his feet .
It's ridiculous how Ange is Trying to make him play. I dont doubt one minute it'll lead to confusion. Or cost at least a couple of goals over the season. Just Hope it's not in a big game

The video with the wee boy greeting ended quickly, did you not see him start to lean back out.

What happened? He slapped him right in the chops and told him to man the * up.

:p He's some bhoy our Joe.
