    The other name they quote was Aliou Dieng playing for Al Ahly in Egypt. I think that was the only three defensive midfielders mentioned.

    Belmonte didn't seem like a defensive midfielder to me. Seemed to be excellent on the ball and looked like he played further forward for Lanus.

    Owusu would definitely fit the role well. Seemed to enjoy doing the dirty side to the game. Belmonte seemed to want to be more involved with the play further forward. Height/Strength should not be what you look at in any player but I would really like a mountain in that defensive midfield role. A Wanyama type.

    @Celtic_Daft1888 some stats I was looking at last night suggested Owusu was a level below Souza in the defensive department but a better passer.

    Belmonte looks a good alternative. Closer to Souza defensively and passing accuracy similar to Owusu.

    Vini Souza - 3.8 tackles and 2 interceptions per 90.
    Belmonte - 2.4 tackles and 3 interceptions per 90.
    Owusu - 1.3 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per 90.

    Vini Souza - 79% pass accuracy.
    Belmonte - 86% pass accuracy.
    Owusu - 87% pass accuracy

    The optimistic part of me thinks if we weren't confident on this we'd have pulled out of the running a while back. It seems quite quiet media wise.

    My physio had a session today guy said he works under Tim Williamson and Ryan Connelly (Celtic doctor?) And I asked has he heard any signing news.

    The guy could be just filling a conversation with interesting stuff but I do believe he works under Tim Williamson

    I thought Belmonte looked class from his reel and could do a bit of everything in the 6 and 8.....seemed pretty box to box from his video's and chipped in with a few goals..

    Then I think a poster watched him in a couple of full game's and said he didn't look good at all?

    Be disappointed if it isn't Souza though. Belmonte does seem like he can mix it but Souza looks different class. I got the impression if we signed Belmonte that he might've been one of the 8's..

    Honestly, if this guy couldn't make his mind up until now I would question his determination if he would sign. And I know Ange doesn't want players like that. Ange better brings in a guy who jumps at the chance playing for us. Even if he's a worse player than Souza he could at the end play better just because he's totally motivated to be here.
