Quite ironic that it was Lennon that signed him. The one manager out of BR, Ronnie and Ange that didn't know how to get the best out of him

Ange Postecoglou has opened up on his “great relationship” with fellow countryman Tom Rogic.

And the Celtic manager believes the 29-year-old still has “a lot of good football in him", after nine successful years in Glasgow came to an end this season.

Rogic, who joined Celtic in 2012 from Central Coast Mariners, went on to become a fan favourite at Parkhead, winning 16 trophies for the Hoops

The Australian departed the club in fitting fashion last month on trophy day, receiving a standing ovation from the capacity crowd.

Postecoglou has now lifted the lid on his relationship with Rogic, and has backed the midfielder to be back to his best imminently.

On Rogic's future, he told Sportsday: "Hopefully, over the next period, he gets his immediate future sorted out because he’s still got a lot of good football in him.

I’m not sure what his next step is. I’ve left him alone.

I’ve had a great relationship with Tom over the last few years, particularly these last 12 months.

"He felt it was time for him to move on, and I thought it was a great way for him to finish as a champion.”

Probably more like he was signed when Lennon was at the club.

No chance he’s identified him. He would have been brought in as a project signing.

Its a grand old team to play for
He popped up on our radar when he excelled in our kit manufacturer at the times (Nike) "The Chance" competition. We kept tabs on him from then, he went to Central Coast Mariners and we picked him up from there.

In no way was he a Lennon signing, as you said he had no idea how to use him. In fact we almost punted him under Lennon, if he never got injured on loan while at Melbourne Victory he would probably have signed for them. Lennon left Ronny came in and the rest is History

Anyone know how many of his 272 matches were for the full game? I know it's not going to be a high % but I suspect it's probably higher than most would have thought.

One of my fav players ever, absolute legend ( not the legend legend before any fuds start). Him and big Sammy are probably two of my fav Celts in last 20 years.

I said the same to my mate earlier tonight, it's hitting home now that he's away.

There is no replacing him. :55:

It's just not the same. I have no idea how he is travelling at the moment or where he at. All the best Tommy.

Matt O’Riley’s that guy. Ange knew he was going and got the replacement in early to bed in. You’ll never get the exact same but got similar with a * of a lot of potential.

Delighted that Tam’s gave that last season and is leaving with the love that he deserves, because if he left this summer it wouldn’t have been that.

We wouldn’t have done what we done this year without him, and he deserves to leave ln that high.

When the news came out that he'll leave, I was really gutted. It just feels like it's a bit too soon. Would have loved to have him for next season's Champions League campaign and he still so valuable in the league as well.

The grace he plays with is incomparable and it was mostly just a joy to watch how he light-footedly danced around his opponents! We will surely miss that part of his game in the team next year. I really wish him well and hope he'll get the transfer he's looking for! Just happy I had the opportunity to watch this guy playing for us for so long, was just a privilege to have a player like him in Scotland for so long :86:

Just seen that he’s getting linked to a club in Indonesia :38: ffs, that’ll be a total waste if true.

That'd be disappointing, because after the season he just had, it would have been great to see how he got on somewhere else in Europe like Germany or England. He could still make money in Asia later, when 33 or 34. But who knows, he has a young family and the regular International travel can't be fun, so I can see why he'd want to be closer to home.

Tom Rogic has emerged as a target for ambitious Indonesian club Persija Jakarta, according to reports.

The Australian international, 29, bid farewell to Celtic at the end of last season after almost a decade at the club.

And for the first time since moving to Scotland as a teenager, he is now looking for a new home.

It may still come as somewhat of a surprise to some fans though to see Rogic linked with a move to the Asian outfit however.

According to Transfermarkt Indonesia, Persija Jakarta are keen on the midfielder and could approach him over a move.

With one of the biggest fanbases in Indonesia, the club are aiming to build a squad that can challenge for the Liga 1 title.

And signing Rogic would certainly be a statement of intent with his success in Scotland as well as his experience of playing in European and international football.

However, should he ultimately join up with Persija Jakarta, he would be playing alongside Ondrej Kudela

Didn’t want him to disappear into the wilderness albeit handsomely paid. Hope it’s not true and he stays in Europe. Would be a complete waste, too young still and has a lot to offer.

If he was staying in europe he probably would have just finished his contract with us, even if he was going to be seeing a bit less game time going forward, moving closer to home seems to be the biggest motivator for him here.

I hope we are taking a fee for him. Great servant but not too keen on the idea of just giving quality players away for free.
