Well Im afraid thats not what the Champions League is about. Its about dining at the top table and playing the best teams. Massive European nights at Celtic Park playing Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man City, or Bayern Munich. If we get skelped then we get skelped. You dont go into that competition hoping for an easy draw or hoping to play inferior teams.
Every team is top quality, every group is going to be difficult and the thing about it is...its the only way to improve the standard of our team and thats by being in the same competition as the elite and playing the best on a season to season basis.

That said I would like to stand a wee chance of progressing in Europe. Thats why I'd actually prefer 3rd in a group than to qualify out of it. Cause you'd go into the next round and get pumped straight away. We'll have made our money in the group stages and if we could pull of finishing third then we'd drop into the Europa where we actually stand a decent chance

 

@hiphopaddict I always hope for the easiest draw. Also prefer to qualify through the group rather than finish third without a doubt.

 

Easiest draw every * time, always baffles me * wanting ‘glamour ties’ * that. Us much a chance to succeed as we possibly can get

Absolute tinpot mentality that.

We've had enough "glamour groups" over the years to last us several lifetimes. It always ends in complete embarrassment.

I want an easy group for once. Well... nothing will be easy but at least manageable. Getting out of the groups would be fantastic.

 

Not always complete embarrassment, it was under Rodgers, more often it ended up in hard luck, they should be proud of themselves * wee platitudes.

 

I fall into the mixed group camp. Can't lie that I love it when a giant of European fitbaw comes to Parkhead, unless it's Barca who I'm sick of, but I also want a chance to pick up points. It's the groups with slick moneyed teams i don't like that wind me up: Man City, PSG etc.

Give me a group with Real Madrid, Ajax and a Red Star or something.

 

The Bayern Munich game sticks out.

At 1-1 we did look like we were going to go on a get the winner after McGregor equalised but that feeling lasted about 5 minutes when Bayern went up the park and made it 2-1.

We had to console ourselves with "pushing them close". I hated that mentality.

I'd still like to take a big scalp, it seems like we haven't had one of those in the CL in ages. Barca must be the last time? Can't believe that'll be a decade this season.

But don't want another group where we draw what feels like three pot 1 sides.

 

The easiest possible group still holds glamour ties really. Big clubs with big histories (except the Red Bull clubs). I'd say giving us the chance to do Frankfurt is a bit glamorous to me.

 

Easiest group on paper with best chance of qualifying then you will get a glamour tie in the last 16 if get out of group. If not, hopefully secured 3rd place to get a run in Europa

Aye that game we outplayed them mate, we were the better team.

 

Of course everyone wants to see us make the last 16 but people cant be blamed for wanting to see us get one of europes big teams in the groups.
Without these kind of ties we might not have seen moments like Nakamuras free kicks vs man utd or last minute winners vs AC Milan.

Its all about balance and you need strong tests to prepare for whats to come. Getting out the groups would be fantastic but id rather see us getting a bit of a test in the group and contesting a match in the last 16 than coasting a weak group and then getting hammered by a side with a lot more quality in the last 16

 

Seen that thread on Reo on twitter. Was interesting. Doesn't really talk much to Kyogo. Not that it bothers me, as long as they keep playing the way they do, I couldn't give a *.

 

Found tht quite strange, the both barely speak or understand English so you would think the 4 of them would all be paly and chatting all the time!

 

You know the season is over when Kyogo's hair has powered down.
