what I would do mate is don't spend it, leave it in your bank and let the interest add up.. if you get the call in a few weeks, give them back what you owe them.. if they don't phone you but stop the payments, then the money's yours.. and if they do take the money, hopefully the interest will get you a few drinks down the pub...

Im 100% positive i read a similar story not too long ago about an ex-employee who was still being paid by his ex-employers for almost 1 year. He did'nt tell them and when they realised there mistake he had to pay it all back. Why dont you open another account for your current job wages and dont touch the other account where the money is still being paid to and just leave the money sitting however tempting it may be to spend it. You may get lucky in that the company will realise it was an oversight on there part and will not reclaim the money back. Or you could simply play it dumb and say you thought it was from your current employer. I'd be tempted to blow the lot to be perfectly honest with you as these big corporate companies make enough money anyhowz. Enjoy spending it

yeh mate thats a good shout, try tae put it oot the way,a savings account or something so ye dont spend it that way ye can gee them it back if they notice.
if they do notice just say that you didnt realise and spent the money then offer to pay back a couple quid a week, that gives you a chance to get a few boab in interest!!

I agree, do not spend it and see can you make some interest off it.

You will have to pay it back unless by total fluke that they stop paying you and forget which is highly unlikely.

I'm sure I heard once the company put the money in your bank account its your, they can ask for it back but by law its yours so you dont have to give it back.

Not sure if thats true but....

    * them! It's their fault in the first place - change your phone number so they can't get a hold of you if they do want to claim it back and go out and have yourself a right good pish up courtesy of yer old * of a boss!:icon_mrgreen:

    It's not your money. It's a mistake.
    Their mistake.
Give it all away. let it mount for a few weeks, then buy some local handicapped kid a wheelchair.
Let it mount again, then hire minibusses to send the local nursing home residents on a day trip to the bowling.
then let it mount. etc etc...
When they find-out(and they will), produce the reciepts(which you kept) and go to the local paper if they start their *.
you'll be an even bigger hero than you are just now.

It's their mistake but they can claim it back off you for up to 7 years if they can prove it landed in your bank account. So unless you bung your bank manager, you'll end up paying it back mate. I'd keep my fingers off it unless you're planning to emigrate :icon_mrgreen:

Quick! Ask your mum/dad/brother/uncle/girlfriend/granny/cousin/friends friends mum if they know a solicitor who'll speak to you "off the record". They will hopefully set you straight.

Failing that goto a small time solicitor somewhere and just ask them - they might not even charge you for their advice.

Failing all that do what everyone else says and keep the money for now...

Im pretty sure they would need to request you paying it back but they cannot enforce it so they would have to appeal to your better nature.
For instance look at the cashline machines which in the past have given out double money they requested people pay it back but couldnt just take it.

    Wish you luck
