The Shining is one of my all time favs. Not just the 80s.

Love reading about the symbolism, whether it’s bullshit or not.

 

I loved The Terminator but come on.

I would never had guessed this would win but a * good film all the same.

Great effort Taz. From what you have pulled together so far I still think the 60s is the best for films because while I may quibble over some entries here, I think everything on the 60s list was great.

 

Every decade/era has it's own pros & cons. The 60's were interesting as it sort of mirrored what was going on in society; the times were a changing. The transition from the old Studio system and production 'Hays' Code, to being freed from that, ushering out the old 'golden age' era and bringing in somethign new that was only beginning to be explored and pushing the boundaries that carried on into the 70s. The 80's in a way were a zenith of this that began in the 60's... well, that... and a while * tonne of cocaine.

 

Awesome work taz and well done those who whacked in a list beyond 50!!

Although I didn’t include aliens in my top list of films, it will always have a nostalgic link to my childhood as my mum , who’s no longer with us, decided it’d be funny to tell a 5/6 year old me that an alien was growing inside my belly after me watching that bit and then complaining of a sore tummy.
Cue hysterics.

So I suppose I can live with it bein the winner.

Well done @Taz , hard yo imagine all the work u put in , never been so happy and angry going through the full list compared to prev movie rankdowns , eas always going to be the case

Will just say The Princess Bride outside the top 50 is "inconceivable"

 

Brilliant work again, Im not going to moan too much on my fav SW films being pipped, as Aliens was the next on the list.

When I look at those movies for me it is the greatest era.

Evem looking at it for me it has such stuff as probably a multitude of best genre movies even in that era for me, from scifi, fantasy, comedies, horrors to even soundtracks. Theres a few on there but possibly gangster films is possibly where it wasnt maybe up there and westerns.
