There's another one actually Gerard Butler's supposed to be an ex-Celtic player but moves to America and coaches some * kids soccer team for his kid, or some yanky dandy doodle dandy * like that...

Cheers mate. Strange that there are no big films about Celtic vs the huns.

Even more shocked that there isn't a film of the Lisbon Lions.

There is a pretty * one called When Saturday Comes, Sean Bean stars as Sheffield United player.

I love that film, I'd say the only teenage romance that even closely represents the incompetence of teenage boys. It also doesn't have 25 year old playing teenagers like the American ones.

Not about football as such, but just another Saturday is a good film from the late 70s/early 80s about the religious divide in Glasgow. It’s about the orange walk and the violence against catholics. Billy Connolly is in it actually.

Nowt to do with Celtic, but I can't help but like Goal!

It's a total cliche fest but presses my buttons in all the right ways...even though it completely ignores the issue of a Mexican needing a work permit to play in England.

Willing (if somewhat grudging) suspension of disbelief. I rewatch it about every three years.

In a roundabout way, I guess The English Game miniseries on Netflix counts. It's about two Scottish footballers that went down to England and revolutionised the sport. It's based on real people.

A Shot At Glory would be an average-at-best movie if you weren't a fan of Scottish Football.

But because we are, it's a jaw-droppingly awful, car crash of a movie. It really does have to be seen (once) to be believed.

One that hasn't been mentioned is The Match. Set in a small Scottish villiage, it's about an annual match between 2 rival pub teams. Has a good cast in it, including the likes of Richard E Grant, Tom Sizemore, Max Beesley, Laura Fraser, James Cosmo, Neil Morrissey, Samantha Fox, Ian Holm and cameos by Pierce Brosnan & Alan Shearer.

But there are a few Celtic references in it also, as the main protagonist of the film is a football buff, and gets different trivia questions at different times, including about the Lisbon Lions, and one of the characters, '*', was supposed to be a former professional that played for Celtic...

And the reason for all the Celtic references... because the writer/director of the movie, Mike Davis - used to be a fitness coach at Celtic!

I'd always wanted to see that so looked it up on youtube last night. It was there so I had a look.

Not that bad. Another cliche fest about a talented chap ignored by the big clubs so plays for his pub team and eventually gets discovered.

All the usual characters - appalling father - friends who lead him a stray - new girl in his life who believes in him (and just happens to be related to the scout who discovers him).

Worth watching just to see Pete Postlethwaite as a surly football manager, but you can only usefully see Sean Bean's * so many times...
