Wot I took from the game was our pressing didn't work with them ,often arriving late to have an impact , wer as it should be 2 steps ahead and blocking or closing areas wer the ball may arrive from a pass (anticipate) it seemed like they stepped away from a single man press many times .

    Looking back on the game.

Maeda was starved of the ball for the majotity of the match, especially in the first half. Kept finding space for a pass in the middle and no joy.

To my mind Jota was not offside in the first half and should have been awarded a penalty. This was a crucial point in the match. He was level with the defender when the ball was passed. Was not happy with the ref in this game, especially that linesman.

Bodo's first goal was from an 8 pass sequence that began in their own half. These guys are no mugs and we need to be on our game for the return leg if we hope for a result.

Quick question. How can the players let the gaffer down like that? They look into too many mirrors I'd say. Most of them just found out how good they really are on the open market, compared to external true class. That was embarrassing.
They lose to some polar side I'd never heard of, make them look like Juventus, how can they do anything in Europe with mediocrity like that? Mourinho put out a Roma b team and got wacked so their players should feel like the Celtic players, and that is overpaid right about now.

It’s a new team, new culture for a lot of them, there are a lot of young ones aswell and cos of that they will be inconsistent at times but we are far ahead of we’re I thought we would be this season so I’m giving them a pass, as it was just unlucky aswell that so many were off their game at the same time….also ange made a mistake in not starting Hatate’s and GG but again, I’ll give him a pass as any other time he’s made an error he’s learnt from it and doesn’t let it happen again

When Kyogos up front whenever the opposition play the ball back to their keeper he's right in there forcing them to punt the ball anywhere.

With Maeda/Giako they always give the keeper a few seconds to pick out a pass, allowing him to find a good area to play the ball and killing our press. Especially against a team like Bodo who are so good at playing it out.

Dunno if it's a fitness thing with Maeda as he has the pace and has obviously played Ange's system a lot. But he just doesn't press from the front anywhere near as good as Kyogo.

Out of optimism pills today and suspect the tie is lost but the good point is we can focus on regaining our league title.

Yeh I totally agree about kyogo ,he is a distrupter to other teams and knocks them out their stride coming out with the ball , him playing may have forced them to go long more often ,maeda I've expected to see this explosive pace that's not been shown , maybe Japanese footage adds extra mph to your play , but I've been disappointed with his pressing tbh.

Is there anywhere you can watch this full game again? I know asking for punishment but would be keen to do so.

When you think of the big moments in the game the scoreline is from one of those games where everything goes right for one team and wrong for the other. A lot of that is on fine margins as well.

Opening minute if Abada gets in there he scores.

Their first goal Abada is in better positioning to block the channel of the LCB to LB their CB is in a tricky situation where his passing lanes are all blocked apart from back to keeper and Maeda is starting to chase in on him. Even if we don’t get the ball back it negates that full attack.

If Jota or CCV aren’t marginally offside we have a penalty on either ocassion.

Maeda fails to instantly control the through ball meaning he has to spin and the keeper shuts him down.

The second goal if Taylor doesn’t show Solbakken inside we are in pretty good shape to defend it.

If Jota feeds the ball in to Maeda rather than shooting it’s a tap in.

Also both Forrest and Abada have guilt edge chances with headers that if they get them on target they are goals.

The last goal is a wicked deflection on a long distance shot. We are poor defensively for it but still low probability that goes in without the deflection.

Jota failing to pick out GG with that cross would have been a certain goal.

I know they were better organised and clinical with their chances but on further reflection we did pass up a good few opportunities of our own. It wasn’t like the Livi away or home games where we failed to create anything.

It is one though where the big moments went their way in the game. All ifs and buts, I know but on another day we end up winning that game 3-1 or 4-2 without playing well.

I do think they will be harder to play against in the away fixture though.

In 2 minds whether we should put out a weakened team and concentrate on league but at the same time I really want to beat them after their arrogance, time wasting and huddle they done in the first leg.

We seen against Aberdeen how quickly a two goal cushion can disappear.

If we score first the whole outlook of the tie changes.
