Decent performances from great cast, especially Cate Blanchett in a classic femme fatale role, but as much as I appreciate del Toro's movies such as Pan's Labrynth, the original Hellboy and Shape of Water (although didn't think it deserved to beat Three Billboards as Best Picture), this one feels like it got a bit self indulgent and could've - and probably should've benefitted from being at least a good half hour shorter, as it doesn't do enough to justify a 2 1/2hr run time.

That one looks alright. I'll add it to the short term memory cells!

I watched the new Dune last week. It looks swish and swanky, it's filmed well, but it has absolutely no story and you couldn't care less about any of the characters. Twas a 5/10 for me.

    Watched two movies yesterday.

    Nobody
If you told me that the most badass movie I’ll ever watch had Bob Odenkirk as the lead, I wouldn’t have believed you. Pure fantasy stuff but I don't care. An easy 5/5.

    Pig
I've still not fully digested what I watched. I went in blind and predicted someone would steal the pig but everything after that was way off. Its clear there's layers to this movie and its getting seriously good reviews but I'm still on the fence for now. 3/5.

Loved Nobody. The bus punch up is brilliant. I'd link it but if you've not seen the film, it's much better to watch it in the context of the film.

Gotta agree with you @Fontaine about Nobody. Easily one of the best and most underappreciated gems of last year. Wonder if the bus fight scene made Marvel sit up and take notice and try to do their own in Shang Chi?

I've still to watch Shang Chi but might just watch it during the week. That bus scene was brilliant though. As was the warehouse scene at the end! Just pure fun!

What was your thoughts on Nic Cage in Pig? I'm guessing that you've seen it?

The Requinn - 1/10. Absolute * nonsense. Alicia Silverstone is horrendously bad.

It's an old one - but I did like the Japanese film Fish Story - How a punk song saved the world. Pretty fun!

To think Sean Connery turned down Lord of the Rings to make this sack of *. Both thankful he did, because Ian McKellan was perfect, but it also killed Connery's career, think he retired after that load of crap.

Watched Dune yesterday, couldn't get into it at all. Effects where good in parts, but the storyline seemed all over the place to me. Lost interest a few times and bit long for what it was...

Maybe give it a go another time, but at the moment not for me.

...considering it's only half a movie. Unless people are familiar with the source material it won't make full sense (ie, pieces falling into place etc) until the next part of it is released. Cynical, I know... but true. But then again it is pretty faithful to the book though so far.
