Hope you are never in a situation like Scott Brown was in last season.

    Aye very cold person indeed.

Brown was at work and available for selection despite being told he could take time out. FFS.

His form was off....the reason could be his sister.

Not sure why any fair minded person could suggest thats wrong.

    TRANSFERS, LOWELL, AND STRACHAN

All this talk from Strachan and Lowell is designed to "set up" the fans for the fact that no-one will be arriving this summer - gone is the nonsense of the WOW signings, now we have the NO signings. The team is in desperate need of new faces - the woeful performance against Spurs has shown this.

Once again the board have demonstrated their refusal to improve the team and also their contempt for the supportres. Is it because they know Strachan's out of his depth??? Really wish he'd gone after winning the league, but he's still bleating away.

you say once again the board have refused to improve the team...when did they last do this? Strachan has been given lots of support and will continue to get it. I expect at least 2 new signings before the end of the window.

We definatly need an injection, but sure we'll do 1 or 2 good deals nearer the end of the window, I just worried what any potential signings must be thinking when they hear what WGS is saying. Maybe they will have second thoughts!!! Makes us sound like a micky mouse club

Henke I totally understand the market place in which we are dealing in, although this restricts us it doesn’t cripple our activity within the market.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

There are more clubs in Europe looking to buy players in the 1-5 mil price brackets than there are clubs who deal in the 15-20 mil price brackets.

Surely you can agree that we should be able to compete with the majority of clubs?

With regards to not understanding what’s been said from Lawwell and WGS. From my view Lawwell is making positive and encouraging noises and has somewhat contradicted his manager. WGS is stating facts, however does he really think Celtic fans live in la la land. I found his comments to be negative and somewhat patronising towards the current players and the fans. Hey that was just my take on it.

Your last point is exactly right we are in a sound financial footing far better than our rivals across the City. We are so far in front of them off the pitch, however the gap on it is closing. That to me is an unacceptable scenario and one that should have not been allowed to happen.

Don’t get me wrong I am not saying to go out a break the bank on players that we can barely afford. What I am saying is IMO there are many players out there within our budget that would

I think we will sign players before the window shuts but i hope it is players with pace because there is a serious lack of pace in this Celtic side.

Oh no my 2nd post an its gonna be nagative.

Jiri Jarosik was a bad signing, zuravski 1 good year, graveson decent few months then left to rot in reserves (did GS even do his homework on this guy to be fair though i thought graveson was a DM too, but the problem is that he thinks he's an AM, surely when signing this guy GS should have told him what position he was going to play, you know like, "tommy i see you in a DM role, protecting the back four, what do you think ?", big Adam Virgo he always looked way overweight to me, riordan left to rot even thought he fans want to see play and at the start whenever he got a chance, he done well and often scored.

This will look strange but to me GS is a poor communicator and puts himself before the interests of the club, i wouldnt be happy giving him money to spend in transfer market.
I mean nearly an 8 million pound centre midfield left on the bench for the run in and a 2 million midfield in its place and no one can argue that 2 million midfield done what the 8 million one wouldnt have done and that was got stuck in and gave us a platform to move forward and attack and from that we won the league.

I think GS is a lucky manager and he hasnt got a clue how to talk to his players, listen to him in his interviews, he talks cack.

saying all that i hope i'm misserably wrong and we go on to win everything we can.

Does anyone actually think celtic are playing good football ? does Gordon ?

I forgot Hesselink not a patch on either hartson or sutton, and what is it with 3 giant strikers are we gonna be playing the long high ball this season.

what is out midfield for this comming season ?

and why continually play barry robson in nakas role ? he's a good player but he's not got the slight of foot or the techincal ability to play there, why no for once play him in mgeadys role and switch mgeady over to the right and have the 2 of the on wide men on their stronger feet and ready for putting crosses in for the the three giant strikers.

am telling you common sense is a phrase gordon strachan hasn't heard before

so we are into august no major signings so players we buy now are for quick fix, the way i see it is that if we had any player on a shortlist then they should be here by now, i have been getting pretty * off over the last few years at how much we do spend on transfer and quality, its like no good players want to come or is it penny pinching that is scuppering any deals. a lot of us feel that we dont want to go back down the road to early 90s, as far as i see it we are stuck in the 90s with the fees we are prepaired to spend.

sutton, hartson £6m players (todays values prob 10-12m)

spending a mil here mil there is not good enough, we scraped it last year if no improvement is made we will not be top at the end of season, this team needs new players. left back problems for about two years nothing being done, get yer ffing fingers out your * you must have plenty money to spend

dont buy this * that we cant compete every other league manages outwith epl

why would players on our shortlist be here by now...our shortlist doest mean the player has us on his list....he may have options. doesnt mean we give up on them and move on if they are our first choice.

I dont think signings now will be a quick fix...thats silly...many epl teams have still to do their business this summer.

    dont sound so angry :celt_2:

I think you are over reacting as we have plenty of time left of the transfer window and a week before the season starts. Yes, in an ideal world you would get all your first choice signings in early doors...but that rarely happens.

I dont think any signings now would be a 'quick fix' either...if we signed Tamas for example it would be because we have been tracking him for some time now.

Martion O'Neill is famous for last minute signings....but he gets the job done.

I am not denying we NEED signings, just not panicking that we havent done so yet for the reasons mentioned.

the thing that annoys me is that with a few quality signings eg 12m on 3 players, we would be safely ahead of the huns for another 2 or 3 years, last summer we had a chance to bury them and we didnt take it, it has been the same since seville. If we had strenthend after seville it could have been like the 90's but in reverse, ie celtic going for 9 in a row. I know the club is sound financially and they dont want to return to the dark days but it makes me wonder if the celtic board are trying to keep the distance betwen celtic and rangers closer because what tv station would be interesed in a foregone conclusion every year, celtic-rangers is the only reason why SPL is shown on Setanta and would they still show it if celtic won the league by 15points every year?

i very much doubt tht is the reason. Rangers and celtic will always try to compete with each other anyway.

I dont think the cash is the thing....we spent alot on gravesen and look where that has got us.....massive wage and cant get shot....its about getting the right players.

I doubht it as well but it does make u think for a minute, lets face it unless celtic get into the premiership the only real competion domesticly is the huns, what i am saying is that both celtic and rangers need the revenue from tv and there would be no tv coverage if there was no competiton, football after all is entertainment
