Daizen Maeda is only in his second week as a Celtic player but already the Japanese striker is beginning to feel at home in Glasgow.

Having joined from Ange Postecoglou’s previous club Yokohama F Marinos as the top scorer in the J-League, the 24-year-old is excited about making his mark at Celtic Park.

Settling into life at Celtic means a change of culture for the twice capped internationalist, but it’s a challenge he is looking forward to, as he has his eyes set on securing more silverware for the club.

He said: “I’m settling in better, but I’ve worked with the manager before, so the training styles are similar.

“The food is different here in Scotland than what I’m used to, so it will take some time to get accustomed to the nutrition, but I’m sure I will get used to it quickly.

“I worked with the manager during my Yokohama days and I really admire his strong views and opinions and he’s the type of manager you want to follow and do your best for.

'Of course, the ultimate goal is to win the league and in order to do that, I need to score lots of goals myself so that’s my current focus at the moment.'

“I’m so excited and I want to do really well and score if I can. My game is about putting everything into the match and hopefully, I can excite the fans.”

Daizen joined the Hoops on the same day as his fellow Japanese team-mates Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.

They join fellow Japanese star Kyogo Furuhashi, who has already made himself a favourite amongst supporters since joining in the summer and Daizen is excited about linking up with his fellow forward.

“Both of us have similar speed as a strength,” he said. “At the moment I’m thinking of how we will apply pressure to the opposing team when it comes to attack and defence.

'I’m extremely looking forward to playing with Kyogo but also the other team-mates.'

“I want to utilise my speed and I can’t wait for the fans to watch how I play.”

Watching Daezin will be like watching a striker at double speed.

I wouldnt get too excited about his pace and acceleration.

    Remember Keane and Bellamy?

Constantly rinsing players for pace but CONSTANTLY flagged offside by hun linesmen who couldn't keep up and decided to flag it anyway.

He could start three or four paces in front of the offside trap and still get to the ball before anyone else.

The nitro on him is incredible. That mad charge at the keeper, and the one down the wing to set up Hatate's hammer...
