Newcastle are a basket case of a club still. Think Howe is still a decent manager.

Benitez however would have been bad for us. His style of management ran its course over 10 years ago. A bit similar to Mourinho but a poorer mans version really.

We will never know how good or bad Howe would have been for us and, just because he appears to be struggling with Newcastle at the moment, doesn't all of a sudden make him a bad manager. Ange has a totally different management style to Howe and our journey with him will definitely have it's ups and downs but I'm currently enjoying the ride. Also, like you, I too have never fancied Benitez as our manager.

Gotta love the direction the big man's taking us. The athleticism, pace, power, directness. Matched with depth of squad. We're gonna be very hard to cope with domestically. A couple of defenders in the summer and Jota on a permanent deal and we're laughing playing wise.

If we shed the likes of Barkas, Boli, Ajeti and Soro then we're looking very healthy indeed.

Then it's off the field that needs progressed and aligned in the summer. Certainly all promising for the short term.

Howe would have been an expensive disaster

Davidson might have been a cheap disaster in hindsight, however Howe is losing at home to Cambridge on a kings ransome, Davidson got a draw away to Galatasaray on a nothing budget before losing his best players, he's got both hands tied behind his back at St Johnstone let's be honest

He got a draw away to Galatasaray on a nothing budget before losing his best players after winning both domestic cups last season, would have still taken him over Howe without a doubt

Look mate we were off the back of appointing a failed Bolton and Hibs manager with John Kennedy in charge of the team until the end of the season, a manager who in his first managerial season delivered two domestic cups for a team like St Johnstone on a nothing budget, it seemed like a step up to me given my low expectations of who the board would appoint, in saying that Steve Clarke was who I wanted, just knew Howe was most definitely not the man for the job.

Delighted with Ange though, I wanted us to appoint a manager who gave me belief that he could guide us to European success, it's time we won a European trophy again, whether that be the Europa Conference, Europa League or Champions League, we need to aim for the stars with full belief it's possible, I believe Ange can take us there, that's all I wanted, would have had zero belief in Howe doing anything noteworthy in Europe.

Just because Howe has made a slow start at Newcastle means * all. Entirely different situation. Bullet dodged patter is a bit daft.

Howe might have been a flop, he might have been incredible. We won't know.

But he's clearly a good manager, taking a non entity of a club from League 2 to the EPL and he kept them there for a few seasons. To say his last post was getting a club relegated from the EPL, while factually correct, is taking a ridiculously negative spin on what was an incredibly successful job.

Davidson did a great job last season but they've been a disaster this season. Every team loses their best players at some point. It's up to the manager to work around that. It's pretty concerning that they've went from 6th in the league and cup double winners to bottom of the league and all they lost was 2 players.

Looking forward to these round of fixtures as if it’s a new season.

Let’s be honest we are still 6 points behind a poor animals team but I’m fairly confident we can make that up in the second half of the season.

Tbf Davidson has also had a mountain of injuries to contend with and he's only in his second season of management, losing two important players at a club like St Johnstone will hit far harder than at other clubs with more depth and resources, to sustain the success St Johnstone achieved last season was next to impossible. Still got them to the semi of the League Cup again and the result away to Galatasaray was hugely impressive given the budget disparity, they were really unlucky not to win that actually.

The cup double Davidson achieved is above anything Howe done imo, was he not backed rather well financially in their rise through the leagues? Then had insane money to spend for a club of Bournemouths size in the EPL? Without doubt Howe done a great job a Bournemouth for a long time, wouldn't say it was miraculous though like what Davidson did with St Johnstone.

But anyway, as much as I did say I would have Davidson before Howe I did also say I wanted Clarke before both, but Ange has been a great choice that I'm very happy with.

Here you go mate, back at the start of November you done the same when I was praising Ange. Fact you've done it twice is odd behaviour, which is why I called you odd :50:

In a nutshell, let people praise the manager for being good, it's not difficult.

We are 6 points behind but let's not forget where we were 6 months ago.

Noone even expected us to win the league and that's within our own fanbase.

Like it or not that rangers side has only lost 1 game in what, 50 games now? Its still a rebuild we are in the midst of. I do think they're not as great as made out but their consistency has been impressive. We need to be able to match it and hope other teams can take points AND most importantly we need to get back to beating them.

    You're the one that's odd praising a manager who'se 6 behind.

Yet you were wanting Lennon to stay in the job for longer last year when we were already 10 points behind…

I'm praising Ange for securing the League cup, European football after Christmas and keeping us in contention with the league considering the absolute mess Lennon left us in.

It's weird that you're not only doubling, but tripling down on this stupid point. Not all Celtic supporters are morons like yourself who wanted Gordon Strachan back as manager, so let them praise Ange if they want, its not difficult :50:

No, I get that. The manger inherited an unprecedented shambles and he’s done brilliantly.

Nonetheless we have still dropped 5 points to Livingston for example.

I am optimistic for the second half of the season but there remains a lot of work to be done.
