I was celebrating when the Howe deal fell through, knew it was a bullet dodged immediately, appointing someone who had only been used to managing in front of 14K home fans and had seen his team relegated as his latest managerial post had disaster written all over it, his connections would have been * * too

    This

Howe had cut and run written all over him.
Per is record of * it and doing a runner.

Apparently a great coach and a nice guy, but managing Celtic would have had him * his pants after a few weeks.

Ange has done well so far, but we’ll never know how good or bad Howe would have been. No point * on him when you’re just guessing based on nothing.

Was thinking yesterday about Ange’s tactics when he first arrived with having Barkas being nearly on the halfway line during pre-season, don’t see Hart being as far out, was wondering if Ange has decided against it or was Barkas trying anything to get out of being in goals?

I’m glad tbh as it was giving me the fear big time

That’s no excuse for wanting Gordon Strachan back in charge.

Whereas bottom of the league Callum Davidson would have been a coup.

    Howe is a good manager.

Howe would have been a complete disaster imo. It takes a certain type of individual/manager to cope with the pressure of managing Celtic and the demands of having to win every week. Howe seems a nice fella with no doubt great coaching pedigree but I don't think that style management is for him. A Moyes type maybe, someone who will perform best tipping away in the background with a mid table team out of the constant glare of media and scrutiny of fans.

Yet you still called him another John Barnes and wanted Strachan in.

    Based on his past history.

    Hes not a pressure manager.

Great coach, good man manager, good tactical mind, but folds like origami when the pressure is on. Thats not guesswork, its just opinion based on the information.

Whereas Ange (so far) seems to thrive on it. Got from all quarters when he joined, lapped it up. Got when we dropped early points. Lapped it up. Still gets it everytime he refuses to play defensively against better opposition, laps it up.

Its not far fetched or indeed guesswork to claim we dodged a bullet with Howe and struck gold with Ange. At this exact moment in time anyway

Howe led Bournemouth from league 2 to the top half of the EPL.

I wouldn't say he can't handle pressure or intensity. Aye its a different level if he came here but noone knows how it would have ended up. All hindsight now.

Regardless, it appears to have worked out better for us. So far.

Imagine wanting Gordon Strachan back as our manager.

Pretty sure you called me out when I was praising Ange a few weeks ago too.

    You're an odd one.

No doubt there was pressure moments in there but not expectation. I suggest when he took that job on there was no pressure at all. Every subsequent success was a shock and a bonus to that club.

Celtic is a whole different kettle of fish. Expectation is through the roof, from day one. Howe is not the type to thrive on that imo. He's the build it up slowly, away from the spotlight type.

Ange has been a great success for us so far considering what he inherited. I also think Howe would’ve been a success here as he’d have brought with him a coaching team and probably bigger budget
