:97: It counts for nothing, they barely even watch the game.

Caldwell could score a hat trick and not get it.

Hartley does frustrate me at times, just because he gets the ball behind thhe half way line and passes it to the nearest player he gets praised? that is stupid. Hes not strong enogh to play the sitting role and brown and robson should play in mid. Robbo goes forward and tracks back, same with brown.

I just don't rate Hartley. He's dependable but little else. The one thing I hate is when players hide during a game and try to shirk responsibility on the ball.Hartley does this all the time, just passing the ball 5 yards to someone else, letting them take the risk. His passing is worse than Donati's and overall he's just not good enough to be first choice .However he is a very handy squad player. In a backs to the wall, defensive match he is useful but when we're playing normal SPL games at CP he's simply not needed.

Wish I was mate. His passing is awful.Remember the 2-1 Huns game for example?Gave the ball away constantly.

For some reason he can put a 40 yard pass onto the end of someone`s foot but can`t pass 10 yards without putting it behind the intended target.

I haven`t read this thread in it`s entirety but think Hartely is an SPL level guy. He`s experienced and can read a game well and that can be used in Europe but his lack of pace does him no favours there.

When he first joined us he was utter pish, but improved alot. Still, my ideal midfield would not include him. I would prefer Brown and Robson in the middle of the park.

I could give you plenty of examples of Donati's poor distribition, how long have you got?He can barely find a man five yards away from him.I do remember the 2-1 Hun game and Hartley played well that night as he did in the rest of the games in the run in which clinched us the title.Where was Donati?on the bench where he belongs.

    paul hartley

Paul hartley was named man of the match on sunday for one simple reason, he was the best player on the park! he strolled through the game, broke up st.mirren attacks while also trying to drive celtic forward. Maybe you dont understand the role he's being asked to play in the team but on current form he's playing it superbly.:shamrock::celt_2::shamrock:

I'dike to see Hartley complete some of the passes Donati made last season.Hartley was abysmal that night but all is forgotten because he crunched Barry Ferguson[which only happened because he miscontrolled the ball and let it run away from him in the first place].As Rossenspeil has said he caused the goal against Motherwell, and was poor at Tannadice on the final day.He hasn't got a lot of talent and I believe that should be a pre-requisite in any first choice Celtic midfielder.Good squad player but that's as far as it goes for me.:celt_2:

Hartley was the best player for us at Ibrox last season (1-0) and was the heart of the team for the whole of last year, Brown or Donati couldnt match him. Also the only games Brown looked good was when Hartley was playing beside him eg. Aberdeen at pittodrie (5-1). When Robson stepped in the reason him and Hartley were Dynamite is because both had heart and both showed that they wanted to fight for Celtic and if it wasnt for these two we would probably be managed by some foreign dude and talking about a crisis at Parkhead.

The same game that he didn't do his job and track Thomson's run for the goal? You don't think Brown looked good against St.Mirren when we won 5-1?He played alongside Sno in that game, then Donati in the second half.Brown was also excellent against Aberdeen in the 3-0 game in November playing alongside Donati. Not to mention his series of decent games at the beginning of last season, partnered by Donati for pretty much all of them.

The situation at then end of last season was unique and he did OK in the run-in although Robson was much better. He was what we needed at the time but we are not going to move forward with him as our first choice central midfielder.
