he was only good when hearts played him as an attacking midfielder. regular scorer and always dangerous.
    * knows why strachan thinks he's a holding player

He's not that bad at all and handy to have in the squad as there will be games where he is needed, but the sooner we have Naka back then Robson can play in the middle with Brown who are better footballers than Hartley. We don't need a holding player for home games in the SPL bar perhaps Rangers and even at that Brown and Robson would maybe be the better option.

He was crucial in the winning of the SPL last season imo. He isn't Lennon but I think he performs his role well.

    * me their is a *!!! :87:

My friend, couldnt have put it better myself and have argued with countless people on here saying the exact same things.

Complete and utter dud, a journeyman who couldnt cut it at Hibs or Milwall and made a decent name for himself hitting free kicks and penalties at hearts.

Was dire in the advanced role when he arrived and is no better than decent in the defensive role now. Yeah he's a tim but so *, so am I and im not good enough to play for Celtic.

Should be first out the door :bbpd:

Anyone who comes on here and slaughters Hartley after his performances in the last 3 months of last season is either blind, has no memory, or has no understanding of tactics.

Before Hartley was played in front of the back 4 our midfield was posted missing on so many occasions we were sending out invitations to teams to waltz through onto Boruc. Hartley took on a job hardly any current Celtic player either wants or is capable of doing and he done it very well in my opinion.

If the headless chickens in Brown and Gravesen were both able to do the jobs they'd been bough for Hartley would not have been forced to play that role.

Personally I think the guy deserves a massive vote of thanks for what he done and it's no coincidence our defence became a far more solid unit when Hartley was playing in the hole in front of him. Caldwell for one benefited immeasurably from Hartley protecting the back 4.

considering it took the man 12 months to win over the MAJORITY of celtic fans i think its abit unjustified to call him OVERrated, don't you? really?
him and robson burst a gut in the last 10 games to win us the league. hartley was EVERYWHERE back defending, controlling the midfield. - basicaly doing the DM job very well. something donati has failed to do. he made a bad back pass tonight, anyone remember lennon doing that against hearts in a competitive game? i do.
We all know he's not the quickest in the team or the best even. no one tries to claim he's better than he is.

you want overrated go watch weir and ugly betty.

Do ya know what * me off every time we have a friendly, the firing squad come out and say this player is * and that player is *! Do me a favour pal give it a * break and just remember hartley was probably 1 of your best players towards the end of last season!

I know celtic was * tonight, most of us do but at the end of the day we are the champions and we turn it on when it matters!

    Sorry mate dont agree.

The single most over-rated player I can remember.

Turns lke an aircraft carrier, hopeless passer, no pace, no skill and constantly guilty of switching off and losing midfield runners.

Check the game at fir park in the run in when we won 4-1. he was lauded to the heavens on this very forum despite causing the goal and almost causing another by switching off and letting a midfield runner get away. Luckily he hit it straight at Boruc. Watch the last game of the season back as well, that first half chance at the back post for utd, Hartley tracks back the LB then switches off and loses him, thankfully he missed it.

I aint making this * up, watch those games highlights again and see for yourself.

He sits in between the back four and passes to the nearest player (usually back the way). Sorry, not good enough for Celtic. No harm to the guy as I know he's one of us but * me, that aint a good enough criteria, the guy just dont cut the mustard, and needs to be replaced, or we will never kick on in Europe.

he made a mistake tonight but the guy has games where he is sensational at the Lenny role for club and country and IMO better than Lenny himself was in his last teo seasons here.

Yeah coz it was all down to them 2 eh? How do u know what I said then?

    Utter *!

We won the title because big game players came to the fore when it mattered.

What about nakas wonder goal, skippys double, big jan banging in the key goals against the huns and dundee utd, aiden running til he dropped throwing in cross after cross despite looking dead on his feet, the back two looking collossal not to mention the holy goalie.

Look back on the key moments of the run-in, how many times does Hartley feature? Try none.

Yeah he sat there and was solid blah blah * blah, so he should be, thats what he's there for.

By that logic, Lennon and Lambert won us the league when MON was in charge.
