    Thought he was more suited to being a CB the last couple of seasons but he definitely gives us something in the middle of the park. Still prefer McGregor in the deeper role but he's not a bad alternative for now.

    I think he a must in the team at the moment. He gives us good cover defensively and intelligent on the ball. Starting to break forward quite a bit tonight he was whipping crosses in off the left and taking shots outside the box. Just needs to add a bit more ability in his efforts. Midfield 3 of him, rogic, McGregor for the final for me

    I don’t actually disagree, or see it as a knock on McGregor.

    Bitton has just been one of our best players since he slotted into the holding midfield spot.

    I've seen this movie before. Ange used to have ex-Palace player Mile Jedinak in the Socceroos team, a tall, very effective at breaking up play, a hard nosed Defensive Midfielder and captain. Not the quickest or most gifted but a big match player, one of the first players chosen for battle.
    'Niro' has similar attributes at no.6 with a slightly better passing range as well.

    As an Australian Palace supporter, I absolutely loved Jedinak, but he was way less composed on the ball than Bitton. Closer to McCarthy in that respect. On the other hand, Mile was better at breaking up play and way more dominant in the air.

    Should be starting today but I can't see it. Midfield 3 of Turnbull, McGregor and Rogic is more likely. I'd be playing him over Turnbull though
