croker is one of the best stadiums in the world, id only put the san siro, nou camp and maybe the stade de france and a few american stadiums ahead of it.

    Croker

It was me that The Bhoy malone had this argument with. It makes me sick that he think Ibrox is a better stadium than croke park!
why? because fifa have give it a 5 star rateing? if that was the case then Ibrox is better than Celtic Park. The fact that their no stand behind one of the goals is becuse of the tradition off the GAA. All over the country staadiums have stands and it has become some what of a tradition. they tried to convert hill 16 (stands) like the rest of the stadium but the residents at that end would not allow planning permission because it would block out the sunlight. It is a world class stadium built by an amature sport. it makes the millenium stadium look like a joke because they are still paying for it and the GAA own that stadium with no debt what so ever. 80,000+ with world class facilities!

And you have been to the emirates? old trafford? or the other stadiums you have stated?? nope didnt think so! no, I have not been to croke park (going on saturday) and havent seen their facilities first hand but have researched it and know enough to see it one of the best in europe. To say that it is not even in the top 50 is outragious! Have you been in the manchester united changing room? what makes you say theirs is better? So your whole argument boils down to the fact you think the atmosphere at croke park is "Average". maby that has something to do with the fact you have been going to watch Armagh play? A team with no history in the All-Ireland competition, in-fact they only ever made it to 2 all-Ireland finals!(unlike down, we won it 5-Times). If croke park was a club (football) stadium it would furfill all the requirments needed to be 5-Star and would generate a better atmosphere because football matches generally have a better atmosphere due to the fact fans get together week after week. It only takes 6 wins to win the All-ireland, so the fans get together 6 times a year!

Try the atmosphere of a Tipperary v Kilkenny Hurling Final (very possible this year, again!) and you'll see what atmosphere at Croke Park can be

It has nothing to with history or tradition the reason they dont build a stand there is because they cant as a railway line runs right behind it,the stand would be in danger of falling down if built due to trians going by all the time.

Armagh have made it to 4 All-Ireland Finals.

Of course Croker is a world-class stadium, arguments such as atmoshpere will be put to bed when some big Ireland soccer games happen there during the forthcoming qualifiers. The atmosphere at the Six Nations games are something to behold.

Croke Park can't generate an atmosphere! :56:

That is quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever heard.

I've been to Croke Park tens of times - to see Kilkenny in the hurling, to see Ireland in the rugby, to see the Republic of Ireland and to see concerts - and the place is always buzzing. The place stinks of history and tradition. I was at the Ireland-England Six Nations match last year and the atmosphere was unreal. * unreal.

To say stadiums like the San Siro, Anfield and Hampden are better is pretty, well, dumb.

The place holds 82,000 people, and that's even with the Hill. I love the Hill myself. Always try and get on there when I get to Croker. Terracing is still many, many people's cup of tea. The history and tradition it has are incredible, and, seen as the GAA are so proud of their history and tradition, it should stay as it is.

Hasn't got much else going for it? History, tradition and atmosphere mean nothing to you, obviously.

The Hill is not 'a bit of an eyesore' when it's full; when it's full it looks * incredible. You, as a Dub, should know this. One of the reasons the Hill isn't going to be redeveloped in the near future is because of the Dubs' love for it.

    * yeah. Although, having said that, the atmosphere will probably be a bit dead in that match as Kilkenny will be so far ahead the Tipperary supporters would have left with a quarter of an hour to go, leaving with them a half empty stadium.

And finally, anyone who questions Croke Park atmosphere, having a * look and listen to these:

Tipperary beat Cork, Galway and your Kilkenny this season, actually Tipperary are unbeaten this season. Name a team of note that you've put out to pasture?? Go back to the rock you crawled out from under :celt_2:

    The League! :56:

We embarrassed Offaly and Wexford - two handy sides, as proven with their good performances against Waterford.

Waterford are not useless - they just become a much poorer side without their top players. They would have been in the Munster final if it wasn't for a few of their All-Stars being injured and Dan Shanahan playing when he was clearly unfit in the match against Clare.

And come on, Kilkenny clearly don't take the League that serious.

Waterford are useless. Oh now Kilkenny dont take it seriously just because they didnt win it. I think your players will say very different.

You keep on saying how Waterford are useless. Be even funnier when they give you a shock in a few weeks.

And I don't think the players will say very different. The League is geared towards the summer. The League is a warm up.

They wont, playing Ken McGrath at full back will be their undoing at the back.

Its a warmup but its taken seriously and Kilkenny players celebrate winning that. Compare that to the celebrations for the Leinster Title, Kilkenny want the league more as they get skelps at good teams

The San Siro is a shithole, ive been twice and its still the same...they even employ looky looky guys as stewards and too add to that the stadiums half empty all the time :38:
