    ok lads i need your advice here i work in woolworths my names piaras pronunced pierce and every time a hun comes in and they are always cheeky and when i total up their money they throw it on the desk they wouldnt ever hand me it and they always whisper under their breathe * * so !!! i decided to act back a hun called me a * * so i charged him 20 pound for his pic n mix that was really 2.00 and made him pay it lol and then i give another 1 complete stick now my boss is a catholic and the other is a hun and they got in to a massive row and now i have to wear a new name badge so its not offensive to them * should i take that ???

    No way!!! Wear the existing one. If they find it offencive its there problem, people like that should be alowed out on the streets.

    Tell your hun boss to GTF! By law can they actualy make you wear a name badge that is not your name?

    Should you * mate! Nobody can make you change your name, or your name badge!

    You have a HR department, speak directly to them and they will tell you the same thing. Your manager will have no leg to stand on.

    On the other hand, you could decide not to wear the name badge depending on your own judgement, whether its makes you a target and therefor its your own choice.

    Your manager has no right to make you do that, infact even to advise it is dodgey.

    If you need advice on what to quote him from HR law then give me a shout, I'll dig it out.

    Do as MarcyBhoy says, that is basically discrimination and they company would be breaking the law.

    I'd contact your HR department and get them to sort it out pronto

    Dont make an issue over the name 'william', but simply that they have changed your name, you do not want to come across as bigotted, you are in HR terms the victim.

    Also, ask for a witness to accompany you, the best person to bring in is not your friends, choose someone you work with and not a person in your family.

    To be honest your manager will get a written warning for that. Stupid *!
