Bohs have knocked the Dons out of the Uefa Cup a couple of years aho,Derry showed Gretna how to play football other than Celtic and Rangers eircom league teams would beat the rest of the spl easy.

Well add Rangers to that as Bohs have beat them in a competitive game.

Thanks for the update. Didn´t know that as I never hear from any Irish team except the national side. But if they are better than the SPL teams why aren´t they in the European Cups? Looking forward to seeing McCourt in his first league/cup game.

Drogheda lost to kiev last night,we cant spend 8 million on a player like most clubs that play in the European Cup,Bohs have beat Kaiserslautern away, only in Ireland over the last 8 years or so ahve all the teams gone full time so maybe that's why we still have some catching up to do.

Type in "Glen Crowe Goal v Kaiserslauthern German Tv" in youtube.

It was a uefa cup game a few years back.

I dont think you can compare the SPL and Eirecom/League of Ireland. four different SPL teams have collectively made about 8 or 9 European finals in the last c. 40 years, which is an average of 1 every 5 or 6 years. Thats very decent for a small country. Also, its quite normal for the top 2 or 3 teams in a league to dominate a small league of 10-12 teams. I happens all over. You judge a league by its best teams and there is no comparison.

DO you think there is any hope that the Irish would start exclusively supporting Irish teams and really big teams would emerge. You would think Ireland coudl support a number of big sides, including a couple of Giants. Why does dubin not have a couple of Old Firm sized teams? It seems a pity that football is so popular in Ireland but big teams have no developed there. How come no billionaire Irishman has tried to set up something?

A lot of Irish people wont support us we are seen as the people to be looked down on from Oirish they think their is something wrong about supporting your local side. They would rather support Liverpool,Chelsea,Spurs yea 80% per cent would never see the team they say they support live:rolleyes: and that it bugs me i support Bohs.
Sunderland taken over by an Irish group:87:

Pats have being taken over by billionaire this year,Bohs have sold Dalymount for 75 million and a new ground wont happen for a few years tho, a few years and im sure we will make the break through.Pats may well do it this year in the Uefa cup when an irish team does get into the Group stage it will be massive for Irish football

Old firm sized clubs you need money we don't have.Bohs v Rovers is the biggest derby in Ireland great atmosphere all the time. Here is the Bohs fans v Rovers from last year. YouTube - NBB V ROVERS

this game can pull a crowd of 5500 or so people which is a good crowd.
    For Irish football.
And its on tv this Tuesday Setanta.

I've voted good back-up I have never seen the lad play and am basing my assesment on what I have read on this site about folk that have an honest (who have seen him play) opinion of him, as for him getting a chance this season? Well I don't thiink he'll be given much a run in the first team to be honest.

I muist agree that right now the teams other than the old firm are especially weak having hugely weakened themselves by selling all their best players but Hearts and Hibs have both been close the old firm at times in terms of first 11quality in the last 10 years but just could not afford the squad to do it over a season. I actually think in their good seasons Hibs and Hearts could have survived in the EPL.

Hibs got beat 4 nil by Elfsborg who went on to beat FK Riga i nil.Bohs went out to on away goals to FK and should have thumped them.

Hearts had the chance with Burley before Romanov wrecked it all, they will never win have a chance of wining the league with him running the club or win in Europe.

But believe me MC court all tho not the best players in the eircom league if given the chance will destroy teams in the spl.

2 weeks ago Dundee United were beat by 3-2 by UCD who are 11th a club fighting relegation they are going down this year.

We beat UCD Friday played them off the park we won 2 nil they had one shot on goal in the entire game im sure the top 7 in the league of ireland could beat them Dundee United,Hibs i dont know what they are at selling the best players, all the Keepers they have are terrible and they need a new one and have done for the last few years.

They are always trying to sign players from are league but cant pay the same as the top teams in ireland can.
