"We live in a society where people are allowed to express themselves and I have no problem with that but what I will ask is that it doesn't disturb the ninety minutes of football. That's when I want us to be united, the whole football club because ultimately that's what we are all here for. That would be my preference but there's an avenue for people to express themselves if they aren't happy with something, that's not a bad thing but for us to be a successful team we need everyone united for that during a precious 90 minutes." - Ange Postecoglou.

Good article on why the players are buying into Ange and his philosophy:

    https://sport.optus.com.au/articles...ostecoglou-project-with-club-looking-up-again

Players have responded positively to Postecoglou’s personality. He is distant to an extent, “not an arm-around-the-shoulder manager who tries to be a player’s friend,” as one source puts it. He often prefers having his lunch in his office at Lennoxtown alone, for example, rather than with the team. But players know where they stand with him. He has no favourites and players believe they play on merit, with Postecoglou honest and direct about how he is feeling about individual player and team performance levels.

The majority of fans have now been won over by him because of his candour and ambition — but especially because of the entertaining football. Players are in the same boat, and they are excited about the standard of football they might produce once they hit consistently top gear. Even if Posteocoglou does not try to be friends with the players, they “feel that he would run through a brick wall for them” because of his belief in their ability and potential.

While the players feel fitter and believe in Postecoglou’s game plan, sources say that as crucial to the turnaround has been their emotional buy-in. Most players want to improve as footballers and improve with every training session. The culture around training and in the dressing room has changed dramatically from last season and the players are building togetherness. As Filipe Jota said in his post-match interview after the 3-2 win over Ferencvaros: “We’re becoming a family.”

In simple but “exciting” language as one source puts it, Postecoglou outlines to the players that none of them have fulfilled their potential yet, they should be working towards that every day, and that if they commit to the work under him they will get better.

Sources speak of a renewed self-belief and “hunger” among players to win and dominate every game. One source suggests that some players have become as self-critical and as much of a perfectionist as the manager, with some frustrated by certain specific moments during August’s 6-0 win over St Mirren.

As illustrated by a video the club posted of a Postecoglou training session in the summer, intensity over 90 minutes has been drilled into the players.

Fans might also have inferred it from how hurried ballboys at Celtic Park are to get the ball back in play when it is a throw-in, corner or goal kick. Or from captain Callum McGregor’s aggression in pre-match huddles, in which he emphasises to his team-mates the necessity for relentlessness throughout the entire game.

The coaching staff are running through regular video analysis of games with players again too. Postecoglou leads almost all team sessions himself but generally does not do one-to-one coaching. He largely delegates that to assistant manager John Kennedy who, while not enjoying a successful stint as interim manager in the final stretch of last season, remains a highly respected coach among the players.

There are no gimmicks to what Postecoglou is doing at Celtic. He has an established philosophy, with a clarity of purpose and steadfast conviction in himself to execute that philosophy through what he is doing on the training ground, and in his relationships with his players and backroom staff.

Ange Postecoglou's Celts were on song in the 4-2 away win over Dundee and aside from coming up with words to describe another fantastic win from the Hoops, the manager was hit with a double ‘Whammy’…

‘Last Christmas’ had the fake snow blown off it and was dusted down by the Celtic crowd to be given yet another change of lyrics – this time hailing the Aussie.

He said: “I thought the biggest challenge would be getting ‘Postecoglou’ into a song, but they managed it – and credit to them!”

The manager also had a chorus of approval for the men in green and white on the pitch and said: “It was an important three points and there was some excellent football at times.

“There were a couple of moments when we were a bit sloppy, and unnecessarily paid the price for it, but, overall, considering a tough Thursday night game when we got back late from Europe, this was always going to be a real test for the boys in terms of their energy and drive.”

Kyogo has now hit 13 goals since he arrived at the club, but, as he pointed out, the manager is the least surprised guy in Scotland when it comes to the Japanese striker’s capabilities.

The manager said: “He’s been fantastic, not just with his goals, but with the way he goes about things and his personality.

'He loves the club, his enthusiasm is infectious, the boys love him and the crowd obviously loves him.’

“I guess I’m probably the least surprised person in Scotland about his ability because I’d seen it first-hand and I’m delighted for him and, again, there’s more to come.”

Up next is the international break, but the manager already has his work cut out for him over the course.

He said: “Obviously we want the boys that go away to do well, they’ve got some big games and we’ll wish them well, but hopefully they get through unscathed.

“At Lennoxtown some players will get a break because they’ve played quite a lot of football, others we need to get some work into.

“It’s an important period for us and there’s a massive game when we get back, so we’ll be ready for it.”

Amazing how Ange can be so diplomatic when he's questioned about the GB, while Lenny and the rat were both happy to jump in two footed on them whenever the Hun media gave them an opportunity.

It's such a boost to the team to have a manager who is a good * that respects the fans.

When I looked him up after he signed, I'm sure it said he'd done a load of media analysis and reportage in Australia, and their media can be pretty brutal when it chooses to. Pretty sure he's just experienced in answering/not answering and in giving as much as he wants to. You saw him giving some of the media nowhere to go with accepting blame etc. early doors already. Think he's just really good and calm in front of the camera

Nah, he was happy for their support when he first started managing us. But after we got into trouble off uefa for a couple of banners he was always slagging them off and siding with the board when they banned them.

He's done well recently apart from Livingston, but I'd keep that * for if he wins the league this season.

    Ange 'Pericles' Postecoglou.

Reminds me of the famous man, with that beard that Ange has got - all he needs is the Athenian helmet.

Pericles re-shaped Athenian classic society and brought a period of prosperity and growth to the democratic city-state.

Postecoglou is also re- shaping Celtic to bring a future period of success and growth.
