I think we have a decent side which should be successful at home, and do reasonably well in Europe.

I agree we dont look like last 8 material and i will be pleased if we get through the groups again.

We dont have enough players with that creative spark. Or anyone who can dictate a game. We dont really have enough pace either. But there is about a month to change that.

For a lot of last season we relied on Skippy and Jan to score the bulk of our goals and Aiden to create the bulk of our chances.

Naka and McGeady are able to chip in with around 10 goals which is great, but there were no goals coming from CM. Thats why Sammy was * as we had another forward capable of scoring goals.

And Robson in the middle was fantastic. His energy, enthusiasm and hard tackling rubbed off on the others and gave us a lift. He also bagged a couple of goals.

I had hopes for him filling the gap Stan left, we need a goal-scoring CM.

Is anyone else a wee bit worried that he's been playing Barry anywhere but CM in pre-season?

True. I just hope he keeps him and Harttley there cos they were excellent in the run in. I'd rather see Brown on the right while Naka's injured.

I hate to say this but Nakamura is not world class lol and also Darren O'Dea is our best defender, the only reason i'd say he isnt gettin a game is because he is left footed. McManus is club captain and also left footed so you cant take him out there and neither can you play him alongsider Mick as playing with two left footed centre halves would be awkward. If O'Dea was right footed he'd be one of the first on the team sheet every week.

Agree almost 100% with all of that. Your a glass half full sort of a guy by the sound of it and that is a pretty good summary and group of targets. I hate all the unrealistic guff that we need 8 new players etc etc. In most positions we will not do much better for the sort of 3-5 million pound fees we seem to be willing to pay. If we signed Fletcher, wee Shaun, Tamas, the Spanish LB I would be delighted and the league would be guaranteed. We do lack a proven CF to back up Skippy and JVOH. IMO Samaras, Hutchinson, Sheridan and McGowan are all very good prospects but none are dead certs. Its a gamble but I think these guys would step up if needed.

Nakamura aint world class, he seems to have lost something in his game, his free kicks are world class and his vision is brilliant but he seems to fade from a lot of games and can only be bothered sometimes. Would say our squads well capable to win the spl easily because the huns are still pish but we aint really looking still to go anywhere in Europe, otherwise we need some cash splashed on 3 or 4 mega players because last 16's our limit and thats providing we get a good group with weaker 3rd and 4th seeded sides :50:

??? Based on what? A couple of games against Milan? He's 4th best centre back at the club. Maybe he could become best if he had a prolonged run in the team but i'm talking 2-3 seasons.

The reason Mick is starting infront of him is because he is the best centreback at the club, proven over the last three years where he has been consistantly the best, that is also why he is team captain.

How short people's memories are! Folk have been saying that Caldwell is better than Mick because he has done well in 8 games. Well i think WGS sees Mick as the type of player that is going to wrack up 500 plus games for our club. Never mind the 100 or so they have already played together where Mick has carried Caldwell.

Have to say Hairytoes, Naka aint world class and i'd rate McGeay above him as a player. If you take his deadball prowess away from him Naka becomes little more than a technically proficient player.

The overall team is generally fine but I am not sure of the quality of the depth. There is a lot of promise but there have been a lot of promising players over the last decade that have never emerged beyond that promise.

I can't help but think that some improvement is essential. What happens if there are injuries a plenty?

I don't really think there is any room for complacency here. We have to be honest and say, whilst Celtic finished strongly, they rode their luck in a few of those games. The Rangers, Aberdeen and Motherwell wins could easily not have happened. Also, you would never see Rangers letting such a massive advantage slip again.

In reality, we were gifted that league last year and if Rangers had not blown up so spectacularly, we'd have all sat here with the team having got the same points from the same results but bemoaning the fact that the club had not improved their squad, because it really needed it.

Just because Rangers dropped fifteen points over the last month of the season, does not mean Celtic's squad is any better than we thought it was at the beginning of April.

The current squad is good and the team has to grow together. IMO we need one decent LB. Don´t know who is available and also affordable

4-5-1 could help us in Europe to advance

I agree with most of this.

I dont know if I would agree with your use of the word"gifted"in relation to the title win,but I agree we need stengthening. As it stands at the moment we have 3 CB's,and I think most people agree that the LB position needs strengthened.A couple of injuries in these positions and we will be exposed. As we were at the beginning of last season when the FB's were dropping like flies.

I know. Its almost * the way people are idolising the guy. Its just weird and based on very little. I have posted recently that I dont rate him and dont think he looked good in the friendlies. Regardless, with Elvis, Bobo and JFK likely all away he is now next in line. However, I have heard it said by folks who seem to be in the know that OD only got ahead of Cuthbert due to a bad injury and that its a bit like Mick getting in ahead of JFK - would not have happened based on talent. A lot of people seem to reckon Cuthbert is a really top class prospect, quite like JFK.
