How refreshing to see a highlight video that isn't accompanied by some * awful techno dance, backing track.

    He'd be fantastic for us.

I think everyone singled him out as soon as Ange said he was looking at the JLeague in January. He already has a relationship with him, seems a decent player and would already be looking at Kyogo's impact at the club. He will already have people here to help him settle.

I can't see it not happening.

No pass backs in sight. 2 players? * aye he's off through the middle and opening up the entire game. Looks exactly what we need. I like what ange is building here, can't wait!

If we’re not hammering teams every game by Christmas we certainly will be January onwards with new signings like him.

He looks superb. I am very impressed with how he turns with the ball.

Want. He makes Kyogo look lazy and slow. But you just know if we got him in January he'd still be the most fouled player in the league come May, as no one would have any other way of dealing with his pace, and even then that would be with the refs letting most of them go unpunished.

My only concern about him is he looks ideal for a counter attacking team, which would be great for us in Europe, not so sure how he will cope against 11 players sitting in their own box for 90 minutes. But I want to find out!

Thats what this system provides. Dodgy defenders that make * teams think they can press allowing the break. Just got to hope Hart keeps up the saves :56:

I do like Hatate but possibly more as an all action midfielder rather than a left back. Yuta Nakayama at PEC Zwolle would be my pick if we were going for a left back from Japan.

They are a poor team but Nakayama is a good player, more physical than Hatate but still very mobile, has experience in Europe, his deal is up in the summer and he has also played DM and CB previously including captaining the Japan U21s at DM in the past so would be comfortable inverting too. He is also naturally left footed where Hatate, strangely for someone that plays left back is right footed.

    Just sign both

Good point, i would reply to that with, press press press press press and then press some more. We do that to any team in scotland, if they camp in then they dont have the skill or ability to play through it and 9/10 will punt it long where we then have the ball again and they are stuck in the box. Rinse and repeat. We would break teams down eventually. Kyogo him and jota up front, * me hard on material. If Ange os going down this route (which it looks like) we will end up similar play styles to the red bull sides and most bundesliga teams.

I get the sentiment, but most teams that sit in their own box just hoof the ball up the pitch as soon as they get it and hope for the best, so pressing doesn't really do much against them as they don't spend the time looking for a pass, or an option, where pressing could spook them into making a mistake.

Really hope this one's close to being done. If not and I'm another team I'm looking at the success we had from Kyogo and taking a closer look at this boy.

It's a free scout for other teams and plenty of time till January.

Go to disagree mate, a press used properly, can be utilised against any opposition. You use a counter press if you lose the ball, teams make mistakes. We dominate the ball majority of games, if we then press as soon as we lose the ball high up the pitch (as we would have the ball in that area) then the opposition need to go long or commit fouls which go in our favour. Perfect example of this was last week when calum won the ball in transition then jota passed to turnbull for his goal against ferncvaros. Thats the fundamental and proof that a high direct press leads to goals against any team.

One example does not show it works against any team, especially when that one example was against a team caught playing out from the back which, as I've already said, teams camping in their own box just don't do.

    The literal def
The literal definition of a high press is an attacking tactic employed by a team that defends high up the pitch and inside the opposition's half. We control most our games and are in most cases in this position, i fail to see your logic tbh. We lose the ball do you want us falling back into our own half? Your initial point makes zero sense at all. You press against * you score goals it aint rocket science.

Pressing also leaves a lot of space, and a long punt can expose us. Also, the type of defenses we face will leave little space for runs on the ball, or intricate play. I guess it's somewhat easier on the wing, which Maeda does play.

Remember that Ange arrived at Celtic in the middle of the J-league season, which ends in December.

It's more likely he didn't want to take him over to Glasgow immediately, especially as Kevin Muscat was taking over Marinos directly from Ange, just as he did when Ange left Melbourne Victory. And probably didn't wanna take his former club's best player immediately.

His highlights reel is impressive. Would love to see him in the hoops but I won't get my hopes up as usual. There's no chance we're the only team looking at him.
