Well if he didn’t sign them, he certainly made out that he did & was happy with them. The impression he gave when he came in was that he was very much his own person & wasn’t a yes man so he either calls the board out if they’re signing players he didn’t ask for or he has to carry the can unfortunately. Bottom line is, we as fans don’t really know if they were his signings or not which obviously a big part of the problem at the club. I like him & the board are a bunch of cretins but just don’t think he’s not doing himself any favours.

 

People can shout about giving him time all they like, but he won’t get it - from the support, anyway.

There’s nothing in his career to justify giving him time.

For all we know, this is as good as it gets.

 

Btw poor decision to let Scott Robertson go on loan if we are light in midfield turnbull and rogic can’t start together again how he didn’t know that was gonna happen is beyond me I think this manager is a dud to be honest not for the inverted full backs because they don’t work but for the thought of playing those two together

We’re just lucky that we have his fellow countrymen on here assuring us that he’s a football genius and will get it right in a year or so.
He’s starting to look a bit lost now unfortunately. He simply doesn’t have the players to play the way he wants, especially against teams that are much better than us.

 

The amount of individual errors in defence and attack were unbelievable last night..

He's an idealist and that may cost him, needs to put a domestic run together but even domestically it's not difficult to expose the weaknesses in his philosophy.. Its whether he can keep us in it until he has the players who can play his system.

I’m still backing him. He does need time, this was no quick fix. What would be the point in him going now, we can’t attract any top managers with the current board. Howe being an example, you just know when he seen the budget and when he seen Christie, Ajer, Edoaurd were all going to leave, no DoF, poor scouting with owners having a say in transfers he ran a mile. Probably had staff he didn’t really want thrown at him also. No one with any pedigree will touch this job currently.

The problem we have is who else do we play if he doesn't? McCarthy is just as slow, if not slower, than them and has shown nothing so far to warrant a start. Bitton? Again, he doesn't add pace and energy in the midfield, he is better at slowing things down. So that pretty much leaves playing Soro, and pushing McGregor up. Unfortunately Soro is constantly walking a tightrope with getting sent off due to making some incredibly stupid decisions. If Forrest were back we could look at playing him wide and pushing either Abada or Jota (probably Jota) through the middle instead of either Turnbull or Rogic. But we just don't have many options currently.

Feel sorry for him, in the sense that our lack of options (particularly in midfield) is really not helping.

Where I don't feel sorry for him is his insistence on playing the inverted full-back system. I was worried about it at the start of the season, those worries have now been realised and then some.

You can play it when you're Man City and you can just sign the best players. You can't play it with our squad.

When everyone is fit, we're one defensive midfielder away from a very good side. But it would require full-backs playing a 'normal' role, only one of Rogic and Turnbull playing a traditional 10 role - with CalMac and a defensive midfielder behind.

We could still be a possession-based, attacking side, but for * sake man, change the system when it's clearly not working. Or else you'll be out the door.

 

Before this game i really thought that we could not get any worse defensively. I was wrong.

For the first goal, i actually bursted out in laughter. I seriously think that our defense is on the same level as championship sides in Scotland. Worst defensive displays i have ever witnessed from a Celtic team.

 

Bitton would be the DMF, doing the initial attack buildup. McGregor would be the one pressing. McGregor must be pushed up in order to get a hard worker into the midfield, at the expense of Rogić or Turnbull.

 

It is the system. Inverted full backs, no protection in front of the back 4 and wingers not great at tracking back. What did we expect to happen?
