Never truer words typed. All the money in the world and it would still be regarded as a success if they finished in the top half of their league.

before i say this i will just let you know i am catholic
religion is what your club passion is based on mate
as is the dirty blue * you share your city with
some day you will have to admit that your club isnt as big as what you think it is,yes safc have had plenty of bad times but thats all going to change.
would a footballer prefer to challenge himself week in week out or be happy playing 4 derby games and hopefully put in a few good performance in the CL before being knocked out.celtic cant keep relying on the CL to keep there players happy, what if the huns won the spl and celtic didnt make it through the qualifying games .would you all be on here * on about it then
no you wouldnt ,the cl wouldnt get a * mention then
the way you go on about it you think you were hammering big clubs in it
get a few lucky results and suddenly you are big european contenders
    dont make me laugh lads
by the way i hope you thump wally smiths lot

being in a big league doesnt make you a big club , your support does that , if you think you are as big as celtic or bigger then why dont you let us into your league m8 , cause you would end up playing in the championship or worse thats why (turkeys dont vote for christmas) get the point:bbpd:

Mate, the club was founded by a group of people who so happened to be Catholic. There's plenty Catholics across the world and none of them formed a club quite like Celtic so don't give me any * about the Club being who they are just because of its ties to Catholicism, its a major part of our history but there also a lot * more.

As for the EPL, * is every team competing for? eh oh yea THE * CHAMPS LEAGUE!!! Most of the teams out of the top 4 * themselves with glee at the thought of the mighty Uefa Cup. The CL is the hoighest calibre of competition and allows clubs to test their mettle in a competition that puts far greater strain on the players due to the quality, the geographical distance and the prestige of progression. EPL is great, yup has lots of money, but, that money is given due to Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and now Chelsea. You my friend are just fortunate to be in England. We are happy to play in Scotland as its our home, the competition is of a lower standard and the money we receive is a pittance of what the * Championship receives. Nevertheless, or national team is just one behing your mighty nation, Celtic are constantly trying their way in the Champions league and even the useless orgs had enough drive to get to the Uefa Cup Final. So seeing as we have to do everything the hard way whereas you guys can just name a player and buy him, who do you thinks is better off. Just face it if the old firm joined the EPL and had the money you guys had as well, you'd * yourself.

And for the record, we don't think we're a huge team, we are a huge club, i.e. our stature proceeds us. Our team is small comparatively, i.e. money wise. Irrespective of this gulf however, we do come up against very good clubs and work very * hard to get anything off of them. No luck in it, you make your own luck by working hard. Ask AC Milan and United if they though we were lucky. They'll tell you to * off.

I have to reply to this. What is it that makes sportsmen happy? For me, the biggest thrill is winning! The big thrill is playing ALONGSIDE great players, not just against them. As far as i'm concerned, a player is only as good as his teammates, plain and simple. Yes the standard of opposition in the SPL isn't as high as the EPL on a technical level. However, it is very very high on players who give 110% unlike a vast majority of under-achievers in the EPL who just want their wages. I know i'd rather test myself against someone giving their all rather than a technically better prima-donna only looking for his wages. In general, when players finish their careers, they are mainly judged on the trophies they have won as a player. Look at all the great players in the world, and you will see this. Sunderland, will never ever win the EPL, FACT, in the same way that Killie will never win the SPL, FACT.

There is no worse feeling than getting beat. It doesn't matter if you've challenged yourself against better players. The fact is, defeat tastes the same whichever way. Outwith the top 4, possibly even 3, you're not even likely to win the odd trophy here or there.

That's why people get confused. I know given the choice, and not just because i support Celtic, that i'd choose them over any other club in the EPL. The only teams which would make me consider a move would be the top 4. I'd want to win as many trophies as possible and have the winning mentality. Have teams coming out trying their hardest to beat ours because we are the best, not vice versa. Yes we have 4 big games a season in the league along with 6 in the Champions league. That's 10 in total at least. How many big games will Sunderland play? 2 against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. That makes 8! 2 less than our "big games". Lol, every game is big for Celtic. That's the point. Players are tested because they are EXPECTED to win every single game. That would give me more of an adrenaline rush than being classed as the underdog when playing a team like Everton or Portsmouth!

Thank * for that additional letter - you chocolates f^cking paid enough for it!

Got to love the fact he started his career playing for "Joe Public" - that's the kind of standard of player you can afford.

Enjoy Russell anderson and Liam Miller next season - and enjoy the relegation battle while we compete against European elite.

no mate. your coming from championship obscurity and thinking you're hot stuff because you have a big financial backer. Celtic wouldn't win a thing in England, at first. But given a good few years we would certainly be putting more of a challenge in the league that what you guys will ever do. You just don't get it. Aside from obviously loving the club as i am sure you do too, we realise that we play and beat better teams than are in your league. Outside of the top four there are another handful of decent teams but there's also a lot of garbage. The EPL is not the holy grail mate, it just has 4 highly commercial clubs that the rest of you guys get to milk off of.

I'm not here having a discussion, its not a war of words, I'm telling you straight. You come here with the naivety of a typical small club in a big league that thinks they're something special because they get to get penetrated by Liverpool and Chelsea very so often. Big deal. What have you guys ever actually done? Why is it that you spand a fortune to lure semi-decent players your way? You do know that the right back you signed was pushed out of the team by a pishy wee Scots boy don't you. You know how many player come to Celtic Park and are blown away by the atmosphere? Kaka, Seedorf, Ronaldiniho etc. How many have said the upon visiting you guys? You can't buy it thats why. So wee boy, just leave it, its not a discussion. Good luck to you for next season but don't bother me again.

£2.5M for Diouf is going to take you to the next level? I'm afraid your the one who is dreaming, it'll be 3 from Stoke/West Brom/Bolton/Sunderland/Hull that'll get relegated this season.

Sunderland is a hole. You will NEVER win anything of merit (we'll, maybe the Championship). You will NEVER know what it feels like to beat AC Milan in the final minute of a Champions League game. You will only ever entertain foreign opposition in friendlies and when you play in the same division as Welsh clubs. Your fanbase is restricted to Sunderland. Your club is devoid of any historical merit. You might be financially wealthy now, but money not earned is fleeting. Your club is as big now as it's ever going to be. You may have an adopted Irish contingent, but that will fade in time and with it so will any support from across the Irish Sea. You're the worst of three decidedly mediocre teams in the North-East. Your best player is a Scotsman who's using you as a stepping stone to bigger things. As a club, you only exist to make up the numbers and act as a supporting player in other teams quests for glory. This is the reality of Sunderland Athletic. I'm sorry to put it to you like this, because I actually quite like your club, but you need a dose of reality. The truth is, we will be playing in the Champions League this year, with McGeady running rampant and you will be hoping for a decent cup run. End of.

diouf is a good player and at £2.5M is a steal ,he will do till big kenwyne is fit again plus we will bring in 2 more forwards imo .its just he is a * *,didnt he have a bit of grief with the celtic fans years ago
you must be high or dumb or both if you think sunderland are going to be fighting relegation with them lot
if it come to the choice of mcgeady or downing then i would go for downing
he might not have the flair but he has proven he can do the job in the EPL
where your boy is inconsistent in a low quality league :86:
