Postecoglou's expectations have always been high, that's why he has been a successful coach. You deal with the players you choose to have at your disposal and make a winning team.

I'd hoped to get this sort of response before but just got reasons why it shouldn't be expected. I'm now a fair bit less optimistic about Ange as there have a lot of people saying we shouldn't expect him to do much other than get his system in place this season. Far from inspiring.

What you suggest is also what Rodgers did and had success doing.

 

Pardon my ignorance but I am curious to know this. How many coaches in the past have been sacked by Celtic mid-season ? Who were they ? I would like to know from a football history perspective. Who can enlighten me ?

Thanks for that. Why would you go for an untested Lennon after having a winner like Rodgers on your books is what staggers me ! You get a new manager equal or better to Rodgers going forward. You do not regress when you have been progressing. What a let down for the fans that must have been after the success highs they went through with Rodgers in charge. I can understand the frustration. Management always need to have available potential quality managers in their sights in case a manager leaves for any number of reasons. I can not understand why the Celtic board did not do their utmost to keep Rodgers. When you're on a good thing, stick to it.

The last one (Lennon) was sacked mid season.
Left too late by the board, hence the anger from a lot of support.

Two managers before that(deila) the manager was announced to be leaving early, having only Aberdeen as a "challenger" allowed him the time to finish out the season, but it was announced before. He was "grinding" out results, but it wasn't good enough, he knew it, we knew it, board knew it.

Two managers before that, Tony mowbray was sacked mid season.

With Shaw, the new defender and if then nisbet was signed, it would not be a good start to the window for the club, nor for Ange.

These cheaper options must surely mean there are some bigger deals in the works? Ryan and Mooy perhaps?

Can Nisbet run? I'd expect anyone Ange brings in - cheap or expensive - to have some pace and a mighty engine. Touch and vision obviously important also but they've got to be able to play his relentless system and do it for 90 minutes.

Except Rogic. Twenty minutes is fine from him.
