Struggling to see what it is exactly that will a "loss" to us?

Is a good player. Aye he is.

Is he a good player for us? No.

Do you mean the loss of his breaking up our play trying to find a shooting opportunity?

The loss of him CONSTANTLY giving away possession?

The loss of his 10 odd attempts at worldies every fixture, surrendering the ball?

The loss of his constant misplaced passing?

Perhaps the loss of his non existent tracking back to defend?

Ryan Christie doesn't play for Celtic FC.

Ryan Christie plays for Ryan Christie Inc. and his Da his the CEO.

His entire modus operandi is to make himself look as good as possible, often at the expense of everyone else around him.

Last season was diabolical. Ryan Christie actively contributed to our implosion with his "style" of play, and Lennon gave him carte blanche to do so.

EVERYTHING without him on the pitch will improve without him imo. Our midfield will be more cohesive. Our attacking play will be more decisive. Our midfield will quite simply function better as a unit, not in spite of his absence, but because of it.

    5M?

    Absolutely * yes.

With him of the wages and that fee that's his replacement bought and paid for. Complete win win.

That's really good business for a guy with 6 months left on his contract. Hopefully put in a decent sell on clause as well. Happy enough with £5m

That criticism is based on last years performance, to say he wasn't good for us the previous 2 seasons is wrong.
Based on last seasons performance I agree with most of the above, his poor decision making was a factor in how poor we were and if we can get between 4-5m for him we have won a watch but to say he has been not a good player his whole time here I don't think is right

He had about six months where everything just clicked, then he and his dad got a stauner.

After that he played like the Aberdeen player he is for the most part. Last year was a disgrace.

Being totally snubbed for most of the Euros will have hurt him.

Good luck to the boy, you only get 12-15 years at the top in the game if you are lucky and you have to make hay while the sun shines.

We will see him again in a few years when he comes back to Scotland and signs for Sevco.

IF (and it's a big If) those rumours about Monaco are true then what a move for him. I think he'll do well over there and we get a decent wedge instead of losing him for nowt.

    Incredible news.

I had high hopes for him but for many reasons and conspiracies, he's just not cut it.

Delighted to see the back of him and for £5m+, it's like Christmas come early.

If Monaco think he's John Collins 2.0, they're gonna be disappointed

As an aside on Monaco I have always thought it was interesting that the other teams in the league let them get away with being able to sign players tax free. Thats a big financial advantage they have over the other teams in the league all because they technically are an independent country with no income tax. Kind of reminds me of a club somewhere else that signed players without paying tax which no other club in the league could do!

That's right, I'd never thought about that. Income tax in France is such a * as well, over 75% over a certain level I think. They have such an advantage that way.

It really is blatantly unfair to all the other clubs really. It is having a massive impact that favours Monaco. I mean they are in reality a very small club with very little support who would not be able to IMHO achieve the levels they do in the French league without the tax advantages they enjoy.

If we get 5m thats good considering the rumours to begin with where 1m

I suspect he will actually go on to be good under a good manager and Monaco will no doubt make a big profit

Really dis-liked how greedy he was this year and can tell he has no interest in being at Celtic but he was on fire the season before

Every time I see this thread updated I get my hopes up hoping he’s finally gone! One of a few I dislike as a player.

Ability wise he is really good but his decision making for shooting is pretty woeful (yeah he scores the odd screamer) and he thinks he’s better than what he is.

For a long time this season I was trying so hard not to hate him. Because we didn’t do him any favours with how many times we changed his position and played him in the wrong one while doing it.

but, that can’t excuse the attitude he’s shown. And the reaction has been that starkly, * the * off, cos his attitude and selflessness (and ability) was the reason we took him to heart when he won his place.

See the goal against RBL when he set up Eddy? Does anyone here think Christie of last season would have passed that rather than shooting? That’s the difference for me. Glory for him rather than glory for the team.

Unpopular opinion: Ange will love him because of his ability to press, he'll sign a new contract, and win POTY. Ange will also ban him from shooting outside the box.
