Does a 19 year old Son Hueng-Min move to Celtic now instead of Hamburg?
Does a 30 year old Aaron Mooy leave the CSL and return to Scotland when he had no previous intention to?
Does Celtic catch the next Keisuke Honda before he moves to CSKA Moskow and then AC Milan?

Swings and roundabouts. The Celtic name is still there and a strong one to recruit British targets. Ang brings a much wider global recruiting network than someone like Eddie Howe though.

If your playing career defined your coaching ability then we’d have won in Seville.

Does he have the footballing pedigree to attract top players to follow him or is this just based on nationality and geography?

Could you give me some examples of him signing/ attracting top players to sign for him...I need some positivity.

Gerrard hasn’t signed any top players at the Huns. Rodgers never signed any top players for us.

You signed players and then develop them in Scotland. Top players aren’t flocking to the SPFL.

I actually find this more bizarre than the Eddie Howe phantom appointment. I just cannot understand why this guy is nowhere to be seen. Surely he is the main piece of the puzzle and should be appointed first. We seem to be doing this backwards and if he's already been identified why the delay. The rumours that Howe was touting Richard Hughes as DOF just raised even more questions. Why are we entertaining a prospective manager picking our DOF. Shambles.

Top talent certainly won't to play for Ange Postocoglu.

My example clearly stated a "Dembele" etc, not the finished article but talent none the less.

I don't know the answer, but I imagine "Dembele" would consider that he could sign for a manager who's managed to win one title in what turned out to be a one horse race on the one hand, as opposed to one who has won multiple titles, in different competitions that were actually competitive.

That's very much a slant based on perception; when the facts are, as much as I despise it and I * do is they would be potentially signing for one of the most famous ex players in Europe who has won the Champions league and managed to win the title going unbeaten in a season or a gentleman who has managed in Japan and Australia.....that's simple factual evidence, not perception.

So you don’t think we’ll be able to sign any talent under Postecoglou :56:

It’s not his job to sign players. It’s the DOF’s.

Surely if he hasn’t signed a single talented/top player, or witever you want to call it, then it makes his achievements even more remarkable?

I’m not talking him up I’m proving how ridiculous it is to use Huns signing a Dembele as reason for not wanting a manager.

Deila signed Armstrong, Denayer. Lennon signed Van Dijk, Wanyama, Frimpong.

    It’s a non issue.

Alarm bells there for me and reflects my fears about his style. Gung-ho football for all its enjoyment ultimately falls short when a good team or even just a well drilled team comes to town. The Bielsa ball comparisons worry me, for all his positive play the guy has won one trophy in 20 years, no league cups, nothing else outside that championship with Leeds.. in 20 years! and despite what people will say he has managed big clubs in that time.

Postecoglou has some trophies to his name but much like Bielsa I would worry this wouldn't translate so well here in European football. It's a much more cynical game and without doing down the teams he's managed I think it's generally accepted that the players and coaching is of a higher standard.

That's before we get on to his temperament. The atmosphere around the club right now is pretty toxic and him being viewed basically as the cheap, panic option bcos we missed out on target A means he's walking in to a powder keg. He's one bad result away from the full torrent of feeling amongst the support coming down on him.

It's a highly pressurised place to manage at the best of times, under the current circumstances it's next to impossible. Will he be able to handle that without imploding. Also if his teams take time to adjust to his style, he needs to know there will be absolutely no time given.

You think a player will sign for a good ex-player as opposed to a good manager.

    I can't say I agree.

My 11 year old daughter is an excellent passenger in the car; doesn't mean I suddenly let her drive the thing.

His achievements being "remarkable"" is kind of talking him up.

It's a fair point you make above with getting players to the club, I can't really disagree with that.

I still maintain if we need that little bit of something to attract someone here, this guy won't be the clincher.

You can't talk up winning leagues in Australia and Japan and downplay the scouse wanks achievements in winning a league unbeaten.

Going 36 games unbeaten, in a league with a wage cap, and winning a league in Japan with a budget 7 times less than the top paying club while not being able to speak the language is pretty remarkable given he can’t sign talented players :39:

No point debating it, because its nailed on happening. May's well start scouring matalan for new sheets to hide under when our defence attempt to pass it out the back again :56:

    Sorry, have to interject here.

Are people seriously suggesting that players won't sign for Postecoglou?

Such an erroneous and ridiculous argument.

I suppose Dembele ran to Celtic because of the massive appeal of working with Ronny * Deila.

Was perhaps the impeccable reputation of Neil Lennons managerial pedigree the reason that Virgil and Victor busted a gut to sign on the dotted line.

Was maybe John Barnes' years of man management experience the missing key to unlock Petrovs dormant talent.

Likewise, it must have been Tony Mowbray's decades of European managerial experience that lured Ki Sung Yeung and Robbie Keane to Celtic Park.

But then again, they all pale in comparison to the plethora of world beaters that Brendan Rodgers procured for us. Names like Gamboa, Benyu, Dr Vries, Marvin Compper... Jack * Hendry, these names will forever be whispered throughout the halls of Celtic Park with reverence and awe.

I understand completely the frustrations alot if fans are having right now, but this is becoming * ridiculous.

A players two primary motives for a transfer are ambition and money.
Whatever manager's name is on the door is little more than a bonus at best or a soundbite for the media at least.

But if we're at the stage were we're going to trade gossip and conjecture like a bunch of fishwives, every manager we've had since MoN has had explayers and even in some cases, current players criticise their methods of personalities. The only playing personell references I have seen for this guy have been glowing.

But that means the square root of * all.
