    I honestly believe this guy will prove to be a poor appointment and won't last - however, my anger is aimed at the board, not him. Nobody can blame him for taking the job.

    I don't care what nationality our manager is and I've lived in Aus for many years so I'm hardly anti-Aussie.

    The A league titles are frankly pretty worthless to me - the standard is English league 1 at best. Many of my Aussie friends watch far more European football on TV and follow European teams than bother with the A-league.

    The Asian cup has been won by Saudi, Iran , Israel, Kuwait and Qatar so I'm not too excited about that.

    I don't know much about the J-League but people seem to think the standard is OK so fair enough for winning that.

    Australia qualified for the world cup in 2006, 2010 and 2014 as well as 2018 - frankly their group is usually much easier than European groups so, again, I don't think it's such a big deal to get Australia there.

    Don't forget - he resigned after getting Australia to the World Cup and had a very bad/aggressive relationship with the press - Celtic managers are always baited by the Scottish "media" - I'm not sure this guy has the experience/ability to deal with them as Rodgers did.

    Given the global nature of world football now, I have to wonder why this guy (soon to turn 56) has not been offered a job at even a medium sized European club before.

    I just don't think he's good enough and I think his connections with Harkin/City Group (along with being a cheap option) are the main reasons he's being considered.

    I'm not putting any money into the club at present but that's about the board - not Ange.

    I have some sympathy for him - he's inheriting a poor team with very little time to turn things around. Frankly, I can't see the prospect of his coaching persuading the likes of Ajer, Eddie that they will improve as players by staying at Celtic.

    He deserves a fair shake and I don't see the point in blaming him for accepting the biggest club job that he's ever likely to be offered. I would dearly love to be 100% wrong in my prediction.

    I'm also a realist - if we are knocked out of Europe early and are well behind the Huns in the league at Christmas - there will be no shortage of folk calling for both him to go along with the board.

    If you look at slippy at the huns, 1 trophy out of 9 and it took him 3 seasons, would we be happy to allow a manager that amount of time ?


    Not saying we should have the divine right to instant success but canny see supporters being that patient tbh.

    Postecoglou aside, I think thats a possible reality no matter the manager, the size.of.this rebuild is insane and it'd be a huge job for anyone to make it click. Worried for the future regardless

    I can understand that every managerial appointment has an element of risk, but the idea must be to try and minimise that risk by gettin the best man available, nothing personal against this guy but i don't believe for one second that this is the best we can do in terms of ambition and forward planning.

    Most managers in Australia are dogshit apart from maybe two or three others, hence why we as fans always wanted a European/Dutch style coach in charge. However, Ange is head and shoulders above any other coach in Australia.
