    Translated the gist of it:

Gabriel Tamas, Auxerre's Romanian international defender, will not infact join Celtic. It appears as if Celtic have finally decided to terminate their interest in signing the Romanian (24 years old, Auxerre) due to a contractual disagreement with the player. Therefore, the Scottish champions could follow up their intrest in Marko Basa (25 years old, Le Mans).

Not a 14 grand team to play for-Tamas

GABRIEL TAMAS' move to Celtic collapsed because the two parties were £6000 apart in talks over the players' wages.

The Romanian international defender was expected to complete a £3.5m move from French Ligue 1 cracks Auxerre, but his switch to the Scottish champions fell through over his demands.

According to reports in his homeland, Tamas refused to budge from his desire to rake in £20,000 a week from Gordon Strachan's side.

Celtic chief's refused to entertain his pleas, however, and wouldn't go higher than £14,000 a week.

A Romanian source said; "The negotiations were very harsh because none of the parties wanted to change their terms- even for a penny."

Celtic boss Strachan is now likely to turn his attentions to other targets unless Tamas has a quick change of heart.

I say we try to get Goian. Well, if Baša is willing to come, then it's also good.

Thank * that's finally been decided. Well done Lawwell. Why should we be held to ransom by a wannabe? More than likely, Lawwell would have offered him an improved contract if he performed well over the first season and that's enough for most players. He can get tae * because he's only interested in the mullah. Away to the huns if that's what he wants. Good riddance!:bbpd:

Get him to *. He'll go to some mid-table EPL dross and rot most likely.

Yeh, I don't see the point in duscussing him unless he turns up at CP. He is not a transfer target anymore!

The record probably do not have a clue what is going on,they say in that article that the deal is dead unless Tamas has a change of heart over his wages.

That seems like a get out clause on the records part. If he doesn't sign they were right, and if he does they are also right. They will just say he agreed to the offer on the table.

So far I have heard nothing from Tamas or any of his agents and untill I do, I will assume that the deal is still on.

The recent Strachan quotes do speak volumes, however. I think it's safe to say "the ball in Tamas' court". This is on ice for the time being.

According to posters on the BBC, Talksport are claiming the deal is back on. I haven't seen it reported anywhere though.
