Tamas *ALL THREADS MERGED*

This reminds me of Arsenal signing Nasri this summer, it was apparently a 'done deal' for weeks and was constantly being reported as on the verge of being completed. Eventually after about over a month I think it finally was sealed.

Arsenal were made to wait for a long period as Samir Nasri’s transfer from Marseille became a long drawn out affair before finally landing the France attacker earlier this month. The 21-year-old has explained the delay in his arrival at the Emirates Stadium.
“Lyon approached me,” Nasri told France-Football. “I spoke with chairman [Jean-Michel] Aulas on the phone. But this contact did not go forward. At this moment I had almost already made up my mind.
“I had given my word to Arsene Wenger. And I couldn’t see myself moving to a different French club than Marseille!
“I never doubted both clubs would find an agreement. There has been nonsense rumours. Both clubs just had to find an agreement to make my transfer official in L’OM’s 2008/2009 balance sheet.
“I already knew I was an Arsenal player before Euros. I passed the medical when I returned from Switzerland then we decided to make my transfer official for my return from holiday in mid-July.
“In my mind I was liberated.”

Not exactly the same dude, but i see your point very much - good things do indeed come to those who wait!

i think all deals are different. some a leaked to the media when the player is literally days from being officially announced. other deals are leaked when first contact is made by the club.

some deals can be banged out with the small print, while others take ages to finally dot the 'i's and cross the 't's.

i think the Tamas deal is that the media leaked it on the first day of contact and the deal is taking a while to dot the 'i's and cross the 't's.

 

Maybe what's going on in the background isn't the same but I mean the way it's constantly being reported. It could be a done deal and we're just waiting for the right moment to announce it or maybe Auxerre are looking for a replacement

 

It could even be the balance sheet issue that is mentioned too - i confess, i had never thought about that side of things before...

In this case though, i don't know about you, but i reckon it's him and his escort of agents as opposed to anything else! Just a bit frustrating to be so close to knowing that little bit of quality will be in our back 4 next season...

 

i agree i would rather see us take our time and get quality players at the right price. we still have over a month left in the window, i think our targets this year have shown great ambition this season even if we havnt secured anyone yet. i dnt know if some people would rather we just went and trolled around the spl and signed 3 or 4 players by now, dnt know bout u guys but if we get tamas and mibi 1 or 2 other players from europe with a bit of hype surrounding them, i am very excited about the coming season. i must admit i wasnt wgs biggest fan but with the ambition he is showing with lawwell looking willing to back him up i think its a gr8 time to be a tim so roll on 4 in a row and some more gr8 european nights!!!!

Well that I would like to think is the easiest part, so hopefully done soon, I'd say tomorrow but I don't want to jinx it again. Like I said earlier maybe Auxerre are looking to line up a replacement before the sell too.
