Thoughts on his performance?

Felt he started shaky, but grew into the game and overall had a good performance. Won loads in the middle and was positive on the ball. Was a bit too eager at times though, I was sure he'd get a red. Slippy has those players cheating and diving all over the place so he was a bit naive to that.

Thought he done well tbh but yeah he woulda been sent off. Madden was all over him from the start. A couple times as ye said just over eager but madden dying to book him while Morelos etc fouling us constantly first half with no booking

 

I thought he was quite good, and he's been a bright spark in this recent run.

Reminded me a bit of Beram Kayal today. Loves nipping into challenges and likes doing the dirty work, but can maybe be a bit guilty of being over-eager at times?

Hope he keeps his place now.

 

First time in a long time we've looked the better team.

His inclusion has been a revelation.

Makes me angry though that it's taken this long.

 

Thought he was immense personally..

Broke play up well. Few fouls granted but intercepted loads..

They struggled to get through him or deal with his pressing and energy/pace..

 

First time in about two years we’ve not been dominated in the midfield is when he’s in there instead of Brown.

 

Will only get better with games as well.

Wish we’d introduced him into the fold a lot sooner, could have made a big difference.

Basically took a fan protest to get the guy a game.

He did fine today had a couple of rash challenges but he's so good at nicking the ball and playing a simple pass to a teammate in space.

 

Daft yellow, but otherwise excellent today.

 

Answered perfectly , bit to eager at first , calmed after card , would have seen red after going down to 10 as he woulda had to do more to cover .

As many have said above he was superb in the main.

My one criticism would be that he is sometimes is too keen to win the ball back at first opportunity and sells himself, allowing a man to get by. He did it in the 2nd half out wide (think it was Hagi?) when standing square and not over-committing would've forced him into playing the ball back.

With the way he plays the game I can't see how he wasn't showing it in training. The fact it took 11 months (even accounting for the pandemic) until he played his first half of football for us, is one of the most scathing mistakes of the coaching team.

His emergence has been their saviour but might also be the thing that sees them be scrutinised (or at least it should be)
