See that's the problem with Brown, he doesn't need to get in the face of no-marks like Naismith and Halliday, they're * pish. Worse still that Naismith blatantly fouled Hazard at Hearts equaliser and Brown who was supposed to be the one stopping him trying to obstruct the keeper and was niggling with him before every corner was nowhere when it happened.

As for Brown having a good game, he contributed a header which led to Griff's goal but apart from the he did nothing of note in the game and as expected CalMac was again ineffective as he has to cover for Brown.

Everybody loves Broony but his time has past, he should step aside and let Soro have his chance, let McGregor free to play like the real CalMac we know and he can be an influence in the dressing room as club captain.

Brown did more than that mate, won the ball back numerous times but I agree with you he's getting passed it. I'm no sure he's the reason for McGregors poor form either.

Naismith and halliday were all about getting in our faces today, putting the boot in, rolling about when touched and I think soro might have struggled with that. We needed browns experience today but longer term, soro has got to play

Those two wanks were looking for a reaction because they knew Brown would bite. Had Soro played they wouldn't have got anything, Soro would have done the right thing and brushed those two clowns off.

Seriously Brown playing stifles CalMac, he can't play an attacking role because he sits so deep when Brown plays these days. McGregor should be the playmaker not a DM but he can't do that when he's covering back for Brown constantly.

It's time he stepped aside for the good of the team.

Without his utter drive and determination with that header we wouldnt be sitting with a QAUDTREBLE. Wow. Take a bow. A true captain who's time is coming to and end. Thanks for everything!

Looked like he had a fair limp on his at the end so assume he will come out of the side again for midweek and we'll see Soro back in.

Don't disagree that his best years are now behind him. I think that's what you have to expect from a player in his mid-thirties. He can't do two games a week anymore, maybe not even a game every week. I think his role has to be coming off the bench to look games down. His first half performance showed he can still offer certain qualities in shorter bursts.

He's a legend but his time is up.

Quite baffled at a lot of the comments regarding his performance yesterday. Seeing the words "imperious" and that he "strolled" it in the first half. Hearts were abysmal in that first half. All they wanted to do was sit back and make us come up with solutions to break them down. As MON said at half time, nearly all of that half was played between the halfway line and the Hearts box. He had very little to do defensively, and as usual he offered nothing in possession.

As soon as Hearts took the game to us in that second half, Brown and the rest of the team completely crumbled. He wasn't sharp enough to get close to players or cover the right areas. And this recurring theme of us blowing leads and collapsing under the slightest hint of pressure doesn't really say much about his, and our other senior players, leadership skills these days. Him winding up Naismith and Halliday was a good laugh, but it seems like that equates to a great performance in the eyes of many.

I seen that, did he take a knock or was it just because he was running on empty? He’s been out for a few games before the final and so if it’s due to wear and tear it’s even more evidence that his time is pretty well up. But we should sit back and appreciate what magnificent and historic service he’s given to the club. A legend, no two ways about it. But I agree with others who say that he shouldn’t be getting involved with two bit, serial losers like Halliday. Unbecoming.

    Covering what?

You mean like the now famous I'll watch the ball bounce over my head and I'll try a jump and I'll miss it?

Or I'll dive into a tackle and give a penalty away?

Or I'll pass the ball backwards even though I'm playing nearly behind the centre half's and cause a goal?

Or I'll tackle my own Defender in the box when he's ready to clear it?

Maybe he should grt the * up the park and let Brown * everything up as he's hoarding a fair few * balls if you ask me.

He's an awful. Player back there. He should either stay up the park or if not, stay on the bench or stand.

Play his own game with his strengths.

Ps. That's only this season so far BTW.

I absolutely adore Broony but his time really has come. We have better sitting on the bench from a physical point of view. He will always be a leader and a great captain in my eyes but he's lost that edge and should move on to a coaching role. I think he will be great doing that. Breaks my heart saying it. Oh and as for that half wit Halliday we don't know what it was he said but what would have been more unbecoming would have been for Broony to lamp him one. I would have liked that unbecoming or not :52: Halliday and Naismith are disgusting individuals and what goes around will come around. It's already happening they're serial losers.

He can't get up the park because Brown can't cover the ground himself, so he's forced to playing a role he's not good at. Funnily enough when Soro plays McGregor is back to himself. It's not a coincidence.

Broony is a war horse and has been there when we have needed him - especially when the midfield battles have had to be won against sides that like to dish it out. Unfortunately, even war horses run out of steam, especially if they have been used far too much and have not been rested. He can still play a part if he is used wisely. Hopefully he gets into a coaching role at the club when he does eventually hang up his boots

Not sure how accurate that is, back to himself? He caused a goal against Lille when playing with Soro, passing it back which he had a habit of doing to our CBs who seem to be the only one initiating forward passes.

He was hardly outstanding against Killie too.

I hope CM can return to BR form, but it's not down to Broony, either himself or manager tactics if he's asked to fall deep.

I like wee Soro but let's not go overboard like Dudus other client El Hamed who seemed to be portrayed as the next Maldini, which turned out a bit premature, regardless of his family issues.

I don’t think the problem with Brown was 100% down to tiredness (although it obviously played a part).

Said at the start of the cup final we were lucky they put Naismith on Brown. It was a howling decision from Hearts.

They seen it wasn’t working and adjusted and Brown struggled. For me bossing Naismith in the 1st half and his header for the 3rd goal was a fantastic last big moment and it’s time to informally retire.

His limp is really bad at the end of the highlights from the cup final, shouldn't start regardless but that's just another reason not to play him.
