I don’t have a problem with the sports psychologist, though I feel this information should have been kept in house. The team and manager are taking it from all angles right now without this adding to things.

I never said there was anything wrong with psychology,i stated its a red neck to all of a sudden bring this into our game as we have just been papped out the CL,it looks like an excuse now.

And if its so important why wasnt it brought in earlier into our season or even years ago?

Bringing in the right players at the right time ie,before the CL qualifiers start....would be the way of going forward and stating intention into our football ambition.

Our Formation, tactics, * subs (everything that everybody is shouting out at in match day threads) are whats causing the issues and have caused us the loss of CL.

Yes the crowd issue may play a part and for a psychologist to get brought in to help that issue would be great, but we should be beating teams at home like Ferencvaros at home,i dont say many teams getting beaten so far in games with inferior teams to then employ a psychologist in afterwards.

Im one of Lennys fans, and stuck by him when a majority of our fans get on his case, but 3 weeks ago i was on his case and it was all down to poor managment. There is no one more i want than Lenny to succeed in bringing home the 10,he deserves it and im with him every step of the way,but he has to take some stick or he wont learn, papering over the cracks is what huns do and go nowhere,we are a million times better than that.

If a psycologist helps motivate the team going forward and winning the 10 then i welcome it,but ifs been been shoehorned to make it look good and a reason to take our eye of the performances and tactics recently, its not going to happen.

Steve Collins, the Irish boxer, was using a sports psychologist in the 1990's...

Lennon saying he’s open to using a psychologist and that he’s discussed the European failures with the board?? You’re the manager? You picked a team with no strikers. Take * responsibility and don’t put it on the players. This season of all seasons I’m becoming more negative towards our management because of all the * Lennon is coming out with.

It was Dermot Desmond that mentioned it, and they asked him about it. Some of you's will take anything and use it to have a go at him.

You's expect loyalty from The likes of Rodgers and Tierney, even Foreign players that have no connection to the club. look how quick yous turn on Lennon and Brown.
    Over dramatic, Fickle *.

And Lennon said he’s open to it. It’s not psychology it’s bad team tactics and line ups that knocked us out and bad performance.

Have really struggled to listen to him since Ferencvaros. Says one thing does another. He's constantly bigged up mentality now talks about a psychologist. Other issues there as well. Needs to go on a decent run of games now matched with performances now.

No doubting he's Celtic through and through and a great man manager. But as football becomes more analytical and systems based, he isn't particularly great. Hopefully he gets his 1 more signing, window closes and knuckles on down and the results come in.

Wasn't Jim McGuiness hired to perform a similar role?

So not Lenny trying to shift the blame onto the players. There'll be a few disappointed posters on here with that narrative.

It can surely only be viewed as a positive step.

The players' mentality wasn't the reason that we lost to Ferencváros, and, ultimately, no psychological advantage is going to compensate for tactical ineptitude, but it is a step in the right direction.

As others have said, I am surprised that we have no sports psychologist(s) in house at present.

At least, you will be happy that you can * about posters denigrating Neil Lennon.

Edit: sorry - Neil Francis Lennon. Hail, hail!

Agreed, I know people demand to know things and the media press for answers to questions but I'd rather we gave them nothing about our operation.

If you show a * of vulnerability then they will run with it.

I'm not sure if it's a pride thing where Lennon is being publicly criticised for the Ferencvaros debacle and he feels it's unfair and in part down to a weak mental attitude. Even if it is, he should be the lightning rod and accept the criticism more often than not.

Talking candidly about our weaknesses to a press pack that mostly dislike or misrepresent us, doesn't seem like the best plan.

Poster who has been critical of Lennon in the past: "He got the tactics right today."

Über-Tim: "Where are all the haters now?"

    I
    I've never called him that.

I'd be happier if any criticism was justified and posters weren't looking for reasons to have a go.

edit:Sorry he brings it on himself

Yeah I think so too but I think Lenny should have been smarter about it when asked. tbf I'm not sure how I would have answered it. I think folk are just getting a wee bit fed up with things the now me included :56:

Whilst psychology isn't my cup of tea, am up for anything that might provide us with marginal gains. Let's be honest, this squad probably has the most pressure any Celtic team has had since the the 67 final, the squad to stop the huns 10 or the 2003 final. The pressure will be with them all season too. If we get any marginal improvement because we got a sports psychologist in then am all for it.

Lennon really takes an unfair slating sometimes. I will concede we are not looking our sharpest at the minute. I will also concede he has made a few questionable decisions. Bottom line is we have dropped 2 out of 18 points, we haven't even hit full fitness yet. Ferenvarcos was indeed a bitter, bitter blow but these one off results happen sometimes. The ferenvarcos result doesn't discount all the good Lennon has done either.
