It's not even the organizations. There's people within each of those which could be classified as terrorists and people within each of those which could be classified as freedom fighters. Some of them just have a lot more of one than the other.

Anybody that thinks the IRA are freedom fighters' really needs to take a reality check, seriously.

I know because I served in Afghanastan and met the people there and talked with them, I could tell you about the Afghan army Cpl. I served with, who's wife and daughter were raped and burned alive because he would not agree to let the taliban use his family farm to grow poppies for producing heroin, or I could tell you about the time we were called to respond to an incident at a tribal school for young boys and girls, when we got there we found that the taliban had fired small arms and mortars at the school because it was educating women, all the was left was a pile of rubble and bodies. So I am glad to see that you refuse to condemn people who purposely murdered 167 small children, yet you call me a terrorist for trying to protect them? Get your head on straight.

At the end of the day, terrorists are people who cause 'terror'. Anyone who harms innocent civllians, with full knowledge and an aim to cause terror, are who I would consider terrorists. If a certain organisation wants to wage war on a particular country/establishment, then they shouldn't go after the government leaders of the aforementioned, etc?

id think all of them (except PLO), my family history is intertwined with the IRA, but even though ive read dozens of books, i still have yet to form an actual opinion that i feel i can stick to

al quaeda/taliban cant be considered terrorists, but they can be considered to be a group of fundamentalist islam fascist murdering psychopaths, funded by the british and american government to fight the soviets in Afghanistan, and the reason for 9/11 was that the funding stopped, the CIA didnt care so they let them go ahead and who else made norad stand down than geroge bush

contrary to popular belief, al quaeda IS in iraq BUT they were not there until the USA and UK invaded in 03', until then they were not very popular in iraq, actually they were hated, now they are seen as heros...

How are they all terrorists, it was england that invaded ireland, israel that invaded palestine, america/england that invaded iraq/afghanistan.

Because each of those organisations have killed and maimed innocent people intentionally to create terror and fear amongst the targeted population.

What is the point of this thread other than to cause arguments because thats what it is doing..

How can you call the conflict in Afghanistan an act of terrorism by ISAF forces. Those people are doing their jobs against an unseen army that hide and attack and hide again using civilians as human shields the exact same as they did as in Iraq. They also use IEDs everywhere which are not only killing ISAF Personell but civilains too.

What a stupid stupid thread to start. Is it to re-assure yourself that supporting the IRA is not supporting terrorism?

The days of the IRA being freedom fighters are long long gone....
