I thought that it was obvious when I said that no one would slag Forrest if he were from Kyrgyzstan, to be fair. :giggle1:

I take it you would have been one of the prime candidates that would have been blaming Forrest for yesterday's poor performance especially in the first half had he been playing. We were awful without him, so what you saying now.

He's good value for a goal or two which is his main plus point but he is very, very sticky. The amount of times he holds on to the ball too long or takes that 1 extra touch instead of playing a man in or keeping the move flowing drives me mad at times. An asset overall certainly but should be getting told to be less selfish by the boss.

Nope, I’m a big fan of Forrest. I’m much more fond of him than I am Elyounoussi.

Fair enough but your 'utter pish' comment was....utter pish. You seriously dont think some Celtic fans have an irrational disliking of Forrest, open your eyes. If Jamesy scored a hat-trick on Wednesday there are many who wouldnt be capable of giving the guy credit where its due. Its pathetic to see, especially after all that James Forrest has done for us over the years.

    Is Forrest immune to criticism?

I don't think Celtic fans have an irrational disliking to Forrest, but I think it's more than fair to say despite his brilliant contribution over the past 10+ years he's spent half of that time anonymous in games and that lingers in some fans memories. Forrest on his day is unstoppable which we have seen numerous times in more recent years, the Bayern game at home 3 year ago he truly came into his own and terrorised one of the best teams on the planet. However, prior to Rodgers arrival he was far far far too inconsistent and spent half of games playing with his hair and not getting involved, he was also very predictable and it frustrated fans because it wasn't hard to see he had excellent potential. It's only since Rodgers arrived and having the pressure of keeping out Roberts did Forrest really kick on and show us what he is capable of which as said is pure brilliance. For the last 3-4 years he has been an integral part of our side and has rightfully got an awful lot of praise for it. When he isn't doing so well which has been the case so far this season and for a few months prior to lockdown he get criticised for it because we know what he is capable of and don't want him to go back into pre Rodgers Forrest who was only a bit part player who had it all but showed it rarely.

I don't think there is a vendetta against Forrest, just folk saying it how they see it, if he bangs 3 goals in on Wednesday I don't think there will be many people who won't give the credit.

Tbf though Jeremy I know this is the elyounoussi thread but I do actually find it incredible the amount of abuse wee Forrest still gets after what hes contributed especially last 4 year s , no even got a song for him, actually surprised he wasn’t getting blamed for the first half performance yesterday for not making the starting 11, get now you were obviously being sarcastic but you were spot on that elyounoussi has been pish in the 2 away games that have really mattered but people still saying he is “ class “ yet if that’s Forrest he’s labelled as “ pish “

Forrest can get such a hard time from the fans but the difference is Moi works his * off so when he isn’t playing well he’s still chasing and pressing whereas Forrest has a tendency to switch off and fix his socks, so when he’s not playing well he looks like he’s standing about not giving a *.

Maybe if you're watching games from the 2015/16 season.

He's been one of the hardest working players for the team after that.

Completely disagree mate. So often he’s caught out and never wins a 50/50, it’s how you can tell if he’s on it or not if he’s chasing someone down but his work rate is a million miles behind Moi. Although I’d say he’s one of the hardest working wingers out there, few have his desire.

I sit in the main stand so always see Forrest on my line in the first half and he grafts like *, he's a million miles from the petulant guy that moaned for fouls and fluffed his hair while we were defending.

He's never going to dominate in the air or fly in for a 2 footer but he definitely puts a shift in for the team.

Comes alive when he comes into the centre of the pitch. Should play him in the 10 role when we (hopefully) move to 3-5-2

Well we will need to agree to disagree, don’t get me wrong it’s not like I want rid or anything but I leave the match feeling he could do more so often. This is the lad that tore Bayern a new one a couple of seasons back but how often has he hit those heights since.

Back to Moi I’d dearly love to sign him permanently, if he had a bit more pace he’d be a superstar.

A few years ago Forrest was getting stick for fixing his socks or hair, not anymore. I think its fair to say Forrest most certainly gives a * if Celtic win or not.
