I don’t have any major ill will towards him and I’d welcome him back at Celtic down the line but I’m with Gyp, gie it a *’ rest.

You don’t get to move on and still get rammed down our throats on a daily basis. We’ve moved on and so has he, he should focus on Arsenal and allow us as Celtic fans to focus on one of the most important seasons in our history.

I'm kind of in the middle here. I definitely think it was him that pushed the move through and I'm not one of those who thinks anyone would do the same for the money. On the other hand, he was just a kid in my opinion and IIRC Brendan Rodgers said something weird about a year before KT left (i.e. about the same time Rodgers himself decided he was going to leave at the first decent offer) that makes me think he quite deliberately turned KT's head. I can't remember what it was he said that summer (hopefully someone can remind me), but I reckon he (Rodgers) had already decided at that point to jump ship, was phoning it in on the training field and was tapping up people like KT and CM with a view to signing them after he left (depending on where he ended up).

I'd like to have actually heard him say that, rather than have read it from an excerpt from an interview with the Daily Record. I suspect that may have been a light-hearted comment.

It's easy for folk to say give it a rest, but he's going to be interviewed about it, and asked questions. Suppose he could say no comment. That'd be weird though.

Good interview that. Feel sorry for the way he was treated when he left but 95% of celtic fans still love him.

Absolutely no hard feelings to the lad, he has went on to a big club and a bigger step up than the likes of Southampton.
He will get a bigger move if he proves his worth there (which he is).

I get what some folk are saying about the banging on about being a Celtic fan, because we have been stung before with that * and the likes of Keane (both to different extents) and Rodgers have used it to their own personal advantage and milked the Irish connection as much as they could with the club.

But it's clear as * day that Tierney is obviously a die hard Celtic fan and no matter what club he goes to next he will always be a die hard Celtic fan. I want him to do well and I want him to speak fondly of the club everywhere he goes and remind people where he came from. It does us a world of good for that to be thrusted down the throats of clubs down south to remind them of the talents we can produce.

My only disappointment is that he didn't stick around to be a club legend for nine and ten in a row, but that's something even he himself will have to mentally accept.

I am though annoyed both with folk who have spray painted walls near his house and also with him bringing that subject to light. It's childish that it was done (spray paint) but Tierney surely * knows that whatever the feeling behind the spray painting, it is only ever going to be used to paint Celtic fans negatively and used to kick the club.
That's naive of him. But I'll want to hear the full thing in context before o dwell further on it.

If an offer of 25mil comes in for a player, do we honestly think that if the player said he didn't want to leave that would be it ?

The Board would make the decision for them, as a club we don't turn down that kind of money, especially when we aren't always guaranteed the CL revenue every year.

Grown men greeting because a top young talent dared to try himself at a higher level. Spray painting Judas beside his house and sending him threats.

Boys done more for this club than anyone giving him abuse will ever do.

    Love the *.

It was the fact that Tierney cultivated a certain persona, which proved to be false, that left a bitter taste in some people's mouths.

He was one of us: a supporter who got lucky (and every other cliché)... Until a Premier League club fluttered its eyelashes at him; then he couldn't leave the club quick enough.

There is nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but supporters appreciate honesty. Celtic was a stepping stone for him, nothing more.

Tierney jumped at the chance to leave Celtic. No one forced him out.

I have only read that from the article posted and haven’t seen the interview to get some context, surely he was having a laugh when he said that? :56:

He’s not doing himself any favours by coming out with that if he was been serious. Yes I’m sure he has got bother but * * that’s a bit extreme been scared to come back :giggle1:

First thing that popped into my head when reading it was Kevin Bridges going on about Danny Dyer outside ibrox before Celtic v huns game- “guy walks behind him with a bacon roll and a cup of tea. He shouts “‘mon the rangers”. It’s all * kicked off now.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I'm not saying he was forced out, it made good business sense to punt him, i think it suited both player and club.

Yeah just said that in my last post just now mate. I just read it from the article posted but said I haven’t seen the comment from the video to get some context. :50:

It’s far too easy to take things out of context from articles.

I’d be surprised if Arsenal were the first club to come calling.

It’s not a case of “until a Premier League club” came calling. If he left for Aston Villa or Everton I’d be more * off. But he left us for the third biggest club down there. A massive club.

With the injury problems he was having here, and let’s be clear, we were massively to blame there. The guy got zero rest and was forced to play through injury. With those issues, maybe he thought if he didn’t take the opportunity to move to a higher level, he might not get another chance.

He had every right to want to move. He’d won everything he would ever be able to win here, and knowing he had another 10 years left at a high level, I can imagine a new challenge would be very appealing and, really, necessary.
