I still feel that is high for a league 1 striker who has a year left on his contract.

CELTIC are locked in talks with Peterborough over striker Ivan Toney.

Hoops head of football operations Nick Hammond is trying to thrash out a fee with Posh for the 24-year-old hitman.


The League One side have already accepted an offer from Brentford, but the Hoops have not given up hope of landing the ex-Newcastle striker.

Peterborough chief Barry Fry revealed he had kept Celtic informed of other interest in Toney.


And that has brought the Bhoys back to the negotiating table.

Fry is determined to land as much as he can for a player they bought for just £350,000 two years ago.





Toney is believed to be changing agents, but since his deal with a new firm doesn’t kick in until September 1, he could hold on until then before deciding where his future lies.

And that window has given Hammond the opportunity to keep working on getting a deal over the line.

Celtic coach Gavin Strachan worked with Toney at the London Road Stadium and has urged the club to bring him on board.

All I'm going to say we signed Garry Hooper from a Championship club and he was good, so I'm not going to shoot down Toney but heres my argument about Ajeti he was good for FC Basel but why has he spent so much time out of the West Ham starting 11 is he was all that. Let's be honest West Ham arent really in the position to be leaving lethal goal scores on the bench

 

Lawwell will save us on this one, getting Ajeti on a loan/LTB is much cheaper.

 

West Ham have a 45 million pound striker sitting on the bench most week's that they signed last summer from the Bundesliga..

He’s got a great record for an incredibly average team in a league about the same quality as ours. Think he’d be a decent signing depending on the fee.
