With the reported debt at £19.5 million and having admitted that the current level of debt was becoming a concern, Quinn added: "We are getting closer to the figure of £20 million and that would be as far as I'd like to see it go". It would seem that the 13 players that left and the 7 that came in were factored into the current status - based on comments by Peter Lawwell.

So that means about 4 weeks ago, and with Celtic still in Europe, the club were in debt to the tune of £20 million. The board would have known this when the result of the first leg of the CL was over - GS must have been under enormous pressure - can you imagine?

The writing is on the wall, someone is going to be sold and the wages bill is going to have to drop - it's a fact. Looks to me that Celtic are trying to adopt a short term strategy to steady the ship and that Bobo's departure is being factored in - who else is going?

The signs are worrying for sure. With revenue dropping, and with reference to the increase of £8M (edit: £4M) in debt last year, Brian Quinn stated: "That primarily was because of European football and that is huge to us..." GULP - we're out already! If you were to extrapolate, Celtic is beginning this year with an additional deficite of approximately £10M - something is going to have to give if the £20M barrier is not to be breached - It probably has been already :fear:

Not sure why only one year, but that's what is being reported at the moment Dubs. If he passes the medical, why not a longer deal? It also said he will be leaving Celtic to consider the offer and talk to other clubs so read into that what you will!!!!!!

    The debt increased from £15m to £19million = £4million.
Considering we paid Juninho £3m to cancel his contract it's hardly time to time to panic.

Yes, the debt rose by £3.7M, the loss was £7.73M to the year end - like I said, the exit from Europe can be taken as an upfront negative of 8-10M wrt to last year (or expectation)

No, it's not time to panic, but if the line in the sand is £20M, then it is already breached and that means something will have to give (since all other revenue streams are also dropping - that means selling or accepting an increasing debt beyond £20.

I'm happy with that scenario if Celtic is grown - that however is my concern. :87:

We really need a left-back and PSV's guy Lee Young-Pyo is apparantly going for about £1.4m - Spurs are interested, we should be too, he's a great pllayer, have watched him on channel five's Dutch footie coverage.

GS has ruled out selling Petrov to Fulham. So you don't have to worry about that.

Reports state that Christanval has been speaking to a few clubs and has a few options. Lazio have joined the race to sign him and he may already be on his way to talk to them.

    Translated from Italian Press:
Lazio are interested in French international defender Philippe Christanval. Lazio are seeking a central defender to take over from Fernando Couto, whose contract has expired, and the number one target is former Barcelona and Monaco man Christanval, who had trials at Arsenal two weeks ago and made a visit to Celtic Park recently.

The player is a free agent and his wage demands are not too high for the club. [IMG]
