Mangers and players do form a sort of bond/loyalty and garner some reputation and respect.
Sinclair would not have been at Celtic if it had not been for Rodgers, previously worked with him and mutual respect between each other (at least at that time).
Dembele would have been at Celtic regardless. We had him scouted and ball rolling before Rodgers came in to the club. Dembele paying lipservice is just that at the time. Rodgers however has built a reputation of being able to develop young talent, which in turn would play in some players minds when making a decision between two clubs - however that wouldn't be the only factor, likely it would be one of the lesser significant ones, as a name in itself doesn't do much if the money aint right, facilities etc.

Gerrard though, has * all reputation or respect as a manager and NO player has signed for them because they are excited to work under Gerrard. He hasn't proven jack * of what he can do to help a player better themself. It is all about money.
