But he is a signing and our managers stated he is a right back, just because he doesn’t inspire you doesn’t mean we haven’t actually signed him.

And like I’ve said before, dunno how you can be uninspired about a * you’ve never actually watch play football before.

Some ‘uninspiring’ signings have turned out to be absolute ballers for us, so before a start pure greeting about it I’d like to actually see the guy play first.

Like I said I hope he's an absolute star..

If you're happy with a 28yr old with one cap who has been plying his trade in Israeli football, then good for you. But, like I say it is uninspiring and a gamble, yet again with CL football.

For a window that started so promisingly it's becoming more of a disappointment..

And people have every right to vent their frustrations, it's not as if its a one off its every window.

We have more than £40m in the bank, what we keeping it for?

    Nah that'll never catch on.

Not wanting a argument, could you provide links to all the journalists saying he has played better at cb, genuinely interested to read it.

    Let's talk "uninspiring" signings.

Huns were buying alsorts for millions and millions while we were ignoring John Spencer and buying the "uninspiring" Lubo Moravcik.

Like I said I’d love us to go get a superstar right back in but I refuse to slate a Celtic player before I even see him play. People have every right to vent their frustrations but vent them at the right thing, people are literally saying we haven’t signed a right back.

As I pointed out, our manager is directly contradicting that.

We have signed one. If you want to complain about it being the wrong player or offer an opinion on how the guy actually plays football then fair enough.

I have no idea if I’m happy with Elhamed or not, I’ve never seen him play. What I’ve heard is he’s rapid, aggressive and good in the air. I like having those attributes in the team, especially because Lustig’s added height was always helpful at set pieces so replacing that is quite good for me. Outwith that I know zero about him, so I can’t judge him yet.

We really need another right back anyway. Ralston is not good enough to step in, if Elhamed gets injured.

Our defence is still weak. Another cb and rb should be priority. We're strong enough middle to front but one or two injuries in defence and we could be looking at Ralston and Hendry making an appearance.

Can mind people absolutely moaning like * when we signed Wanyama. ‘Aww we need a centre back and we sign a * Kenyan midfielder nobodies heard of to improve our defence when we’ve got Kayal, Ledley and Brown, whats the point etc etc’

6 months later * were saying how they always knew he would be a star for us.

People shoot their loads far too early awwww the time

I don’t disagree with that at all. I don’t mind CB just now but we definitely need a new RB, we were needing two at start of window.

If we can bring in another one you have Elhamed able to cover both positions as well. So that’d be Jullien, Jozo, Ajer, Elhamed, Bitton all able at CB. Which is enough over the course of a season I think. Another right back is top priority, and if Tierney leaves a new left back as well.

The whole point of playing out from the back is to combat both teams sitting in and to open up a high press. If all we're doing is getting Bain to punt the ball up the park we're playing in to everybody's hands. You have to mix it up, but for me - as things stand - we don't even have the midfield or front line to punt the ball up the park to. Are we just relying on Edouard to win every aerial battle and deal with aimless punts, because he's the only one with any real aerial ability and physical presence in our front line just now.

For me, when we go somewhere like Ibrox and it's intense and they're getting in our faces, we should be utilising a system where we play around them starting at the back. If they have two or three people charging in at our back four or our midfield there should always be one or two Celtic players free and we need to use those free men to play it round them and open them up, the same way teams have done to us in Europe. We don't need midfield battlers as such, teams like Rangers whilst somewhat improved, are really not that good. We need people with quality and composure and a team drilled to combat that. An Ntcham managed properly, would be the exact type of player to do serious damage at places like Ibrox.

The difference in quality between some of the teams in Europe and us and ourselves and the Huns for me (was at least) fairly comparable.

I don't think he has properly rectified the RB position, we've brought someone in who may do a job there but as far as most people are concerned has never really been an out and out right back. He may come good and do a great job, but to say the RB position has been properly addressed (I know you didn't use those words but your commending Lennon on signing a "RB") would be a stretch.

I'm not knocking Lennon's achievements since he's come in, not one bit, he did the job that was asked of him. But right from the off you could see and hear from his press conferences and snippets on Celtic TV that he was in awe of the set up Rodgers had left behind and he was probably not going to be able to sustain that or build upon it. Time will tell absolutely, I'm just saying that for me personally 5 months on I'm not convinced.

I think there are structural issues beyond Lennon's control as well, much of which are the fault of Rodgers and Congerton so I'm not laying all the blame at Lennon's door in that sense. I think my main issue with Lennon and transfers is he just cannot take a line and stick to it. One minute it's 'we need bodies in and we need quality, the players need help' and the next it's 'the players we've got are enough.' For me when you follow up the initial script with that, I see it as lying to us and I think Lennon should be more honest than that.

I think it's fair to say that my concerns are a continuation from when he signed temporarily and permanently because I'm not feeling reassured by him, his actions, what he's saying, or what the club are doing. I'm not seeing a reaction or lift around the club that we absolutely desperately need. I know it's a cliche but it's so so true, the only people that can stop us winning the league are ourselves, whether that be through complacency or a total lack of investment and ambition and I genuinely feel like we're heading down that road. There's almost a horrible arrogance to our transfer dealings and income vs outgoings.

We'll celebrate selling likes of Dembele and Tierney for mega bucks because the Huns can't attract a single bid for Morelos, but then don't hold the board, the manager and the club in general to account when that quite openly and obviously isn't reinvested in the playing staff and the club. People are far too consumed by the Huns and comparing us to them when we should be looking so far beyond that it's unreal.

Edit- I should add to that, if Lennon genuinely thinks we are going in to this season stronger than last, I don't even know what to say to that.

He's either become an absolute puppet, delusional, or a liar.

Not one single person on this planet, can seriously believe that, surely?

He’s right there, nobody has seen him play.

But people have come to the conclusion that he’s not an out and out right back due to the fact that he’s played as a CB for the past 2 years.

Ah, so Lenny’s lying when he said he watched his last 4/5 games of the season where he was playing right back?

He’s not an out and out right back is what I’m saying...

A handful of games at right back over the course of a season doesn’t make you an out and out right back mate.

I think he will be a good squad player that can provide cover at RB and CB though.

Lennon explicitly disagrees in his interview there, my point is, before I can judge if he’s talking * or not I’ll need to actually watch the guy play.

If he was signed as that and some decent money was invested in to a RB, this window would have a whole different look and feel about it.

The fact we've got our first league game tomorrow and an incredibly important qualifier coming up, with (Jullien aside) only really squad signings having been made, is an actual disgrace for me.
