    From the Derry Journal,

    McCourt to become a bhoy?

Derry City's Paddy McCourt is being strongly linked this morning with a move to SPL giants Glasgow Celtic.

The influential winger had been poised to sign for newly-promoted West Browich Albion, however it is understood that McCourt is now finalising a move to Parkhead.

West Brom had agreed a £150,000 deal with the Brandywell club earlier this week with the former Northern Ireland U21 international expected to go on to agree personal terms.

Yet it has emerged that Celtic are currently in negotiations with Derry City and McCourt and that a deal could be finalised in the coming days.

It is understood that the Parkhead club's deal will be significantly higher than that tabled by West Brom.

The package for McCourt is understood to include two first team games between Derry City and the Glasgow club and a gala dinner.

The former Northern Ireland U21 international is expected to be in Glasgow today for talks.

You structure your posts far differently from they way i do that'll be the reason for the 'selective posts' I type up a response in a matter of seconds while you like to disect everything piece by piece. Not saying there's a right or wrong way just pointing it out.

You said initially he doesn't look impressive as per his wikipedia page, you then said later on in the thread he's worth a punt as it's not a lot of money, would i be right in saying that constitutes a semblance of back pedalling in the tact you have taken towards Pat McCourt or not?

No problem for me, we are ment to be signing a guy who tony mowbray believes could make it in the premiership for peanuts. lets all give the guy a chance. Its a gamble so is life, if it does not work out, Its not the end of the world.

Might be our first summer signing, but am sure, there will be alot more spent than 200k.

Why do people judge a player from which club he has been at or the size of the fee, those people must know more about football than Gordon Strachan and Tony Mowbray and the scouts then lol

Where in my earlier posts did I say we should not sign him?

Again initially I was only quoting hard facts from his career, as it was not much to go on and beacause of my lack of knowledge. I asked if anyone had heard of him.

Do you think his stats are impressive?

Hammer mate you are right we do construct our posts differently no probs. I just feel though to identify one or two points from posts and construct a post to shine a somewhat false and negative light on someone else’s views is not exactly a fair and balanced way to go about things.

Anyhow, not looking for confrontation, just a case of us getting our (your:84:) wires crossed.:50:

Look lads, some people need to get a grip here.Paddy's been bought because of his potential.WGS and the coaching staff have seen something that they think they can work with (I agree with them). He will get better coaching, training, everything in Glasgow. He's only costing approx. £150,000...not a few million. It's not a gamble. He won't be our only signing this summer. We will spend a few million each on a few more players. What's the problem?

Hope he does well at CP.Be the first Derry man I'll have been able to cheer on at Celtic.Hopefully Danny Lafferty, another Derry man playing for the under-19's goes on to make it too.

    Good luck Paddy!

    Cheers for the welcome Dempsey.

He's known by some people in Derry as Shaggy due to his similarities to the Scooby Doo character.

At least if it doesn't work out him a Christian Dailly can form a new indie band.

paddys a star turn i notice that the goal statistics were posted up earlier, if his assist stats were posted you might see him in a different light, the lad has super skill and i firmly believe he can go on to greater things with Celtic.

You never know, he may well turn out to be a real success for us. I'm looking forward to seeing him progress, the ginger genius has seen something in him, so I'll trust his judgment. Hail hail:icon_mrgreen:

Always made me laugh when West Ham fans used to sing "Christian Dailly, Quality Player!".

Funniest part was I think Christian thought they were being serious!

MC COURT EXPOSED IN * SCANDAL

SCANDAL has hit Derry City FC this week, as local soccer superstar Paddy Mc Court was exclusively exposed by a PureDerry undercover team taking part in a seedy “*” session. McCourt, 24, a native Brazilian who signed for City from River Plate last year, was caught red-handed taking part in the sleazy shenanigans at Sainsbury’s carpark.

    Hand-Cuffed

McCourt, who came to City as part of a record breaking golden-handcuffs deal involving two tenners, a bag of spuds and 13 Spanish Exchange students from the Foyle Language School was busted by police shortly after our undercover team struck. McCourt was left even more red-faced, when he was found to have a bag of Sainsbury's groceries in his car boot containing questionable items including balsalmic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, sushi, greek hummus, camembert cheese and rocket lettuce.

    Gagged

McCourt has officially been silenced by his bosses at the club, who have banned him from speaking publicly to the media about the incident. However we caught up with a woman involved the sordid affair, who was happy to tell us about McCourt’s performance. 23 year old Polish immigrant Aine Bachyabich, an aspiring glamour model and actress who wished to remain anonymous, told PureDerry that McCourt was amazing but sometimes frustrating.

“He was brilliant for the first 45 minutes. His touch was amazing.” she said, “But as the crowd gathered to see him perform he didn’t quite live up to the early flair he showed. It’s a shame he cant perform like that all the time. He could easily be one of the best shags in Ireland if he could”

    Tied-Up

Derry manager Stephen Kenny was unavailable for comment on the issue, as he was otherwise engaged in important meetings in the build up to Paris. However others did come forward. "We are really disapointed in Patrick" said one former friend. "Its a big shock to everyone and we all feel let down by him. Its really embarrasing"

"We thought he was more of a sausage roll bap man to be honest. * Rocket Lettuce!! Jesus!!"

Pardon the double post, but rumours going round derrycitychat.com are that Wigan and Hull were also interested...

So if true, 3 EPL wanted him.

I don't get this thing with Mowbray as well. Sounds like sour grapes. He claims he wanted to strengthen the second string. Why oh why would you spend months and months directing your club resources to signing a player that isn't going to figure anywhere near your first team plan?

Ok, i've read through all the posts from the guys who have actually seen him play. By the looks of things the lad had a bright future and was given an opportunity at Rochdale. He seems to have liked the booze a little too much and blew his chance. After that he seems to have kicked around the irish league for a while showing flashes of what he could have become.

He now has a chance to live a dream, in the past he appears to have been a waster. He would be crazy to waste a chance like this. By the way at 24 he is passed the age of being potential, he should be approaching his peak.

By the looks of the pics, it's a done deal and he's going to be a bhoy. Because of that he'll get my support and i sincerely hope for his sake he screws the head and realises that very few people get a second chance in life never mind a chance like this.

    Hail Hail Paddy!

This doesn't mean to say I'm happy with celtics first signing though!
