Did he actually say this or is it that the media understand that it's true. Regardless if it's a stick to beat him with lets also understand it's true.

Imagine if the next we hear is he wants to spend 900k on some unknown from Belgium or nearly £2m on some Dutch defender from a mid table Dutch team. Who wants a manager who can't spot talent while we have posters on here who could do a way better job

Maybe not. But people tend to forget NL record in European football. It's pretty good compared to are last 5-6 managers.

The circumstances around his departures from
Chelsea (the 2nd time), Madrid and Man U are basically one and the same - player power.
This is nothing new in football.
Chelsea are still suffering from players having the ear of Abramovic.

Mourinho rubs players up the wrong way because he likes discipline, intelligence and hard work from his players.
As do most managers worth their salt.
If his players egos won’t allow them to be managed the way Mourinho wants and it causes them to spit the dummy - it’s Mourinhos ego somehow?
Mourinho works best with players who buy into his system with little ego themselves and are willing to be a cog in a machine for the effort of the team. Eto’o was played as a wing back in some matches for Inter under Mourinho ffs. Didn’t complain just got on with the job in hand and won everything.
You think Ronaldo, Hazard or Pogba would be happy with that?
Think we all know the answer.

It's still concerning it has happened at all his recent clubs, he must have to take some of the blame for that. I would go into it further, but this is the Neil Lennon thread so best to get it back on topic.

Can you sack an interim manager?

Or can you just pap his * out the front of Lennoxtown?

Want him gone in the morning first thing..

I don't think people do forget that. In fact, I think the last 16 season is all they remember.

Braga, Utrecht, Sion, the Milan humping, the Karagandy debacle. All of that gets forgotten.

We beat Karagandy to get into the Champions League. I’d take that ‘debacle’ every * damned season no bother.

I genuinely think that what a coach is like as a person should be a factor when offering the Celtic job. Not the be all and end all, but a factor we should take into consideration. There's no doubting Mourinho is a fabulous coach on a similar level to Brendan Rodgers; but is he the kind of man we would want? Not for me.

Not that he'd take the job anyway, mind.

If you bring me Rafa Benitez or someone like him, I'll be happy to be proved wrong; but as a coach, anyone we realistically have a chance of getting in the current climate is, IMHO, going to be a downgrade on Brendan Rodgers.

From my point of view, if all we're being linked to are managers who are not proven to be any better than Lenny (e.g. Clarke) or definitely not any better than Lenny (Moyes or Coyle), why not give the job to the guy who bleeds green and white and will give every single last ounce of effort for us.

Like I say, I'm happy to be proven wrong on Rafa or Bielsa.

Let's just spend money from the 8 mill we were compensated for the snake and go out and get the highest calibre coach/manager available..

    * all this bleeds green and white pish as he's nowhere near the highest we could/should be able to attract..

Playing the way we did over those two legs won't get us into the champions league, "every * damned season". The point is, this idea that Neil Lennon is a steady hand in Europe, is a myth. We need to move on.

    Beating them on aggregate will.

Point is, Neil Lennon is capable of building a team that is capable of competing in Europe.

Even I don’t think he’s good enough to take over Tony Mowbray’s team and have us competing in Europe right away, that would have been too much to ask.

Think he’s more than capable of taking over a good team and getting them to compete at that level.

IMO Clarke is better than Lennon. He’s been doing it a lot longer, has a lot of experience and you’re seeing it now at Killie. Lennon wouldn’t be having the success he’s having right now with that team. He’s just not had that opportunity of managing Celtic fall into his lap like Lennon did.

Give me that karagandy home game over that beer Sheva away game every day of the week :giggle1: both horrendously tense but it's a better feeling when you're nicking a win rather than hanging on to it...

Except that I don't think we could throw enough money at the problem to get anyone of Brendan Rodgers' ability, mate. It's the SPL, mate. It takes special circumstances for a great coach to want to come here in the current climate.

I accept we may struggle to get anyone of the snakes calibre but we should be trying to..

Lenny is levels below the snake. He almost says it in his interviews his self. We should be trying for the snakes calibre or just below....no way way below...which is what Lenny unfortunately is..

Going for him on a free when we've made an absolute fortune off of the snake's departure....is unforgivable..

Hibs were lower when Lenny took over than Kilmarnock were when Clarke started... a whole division lower. He took them up in his first season and to fourth in his second, which is probably where Kilmarnock will finish under Clarke.

Not dissing Clarke at all, I think he's a good manager; but so is Lenny.
